Isn't Ovechkin suppose to be alot better than Kovalchuck, Gaborik? Wonder who flops for him this year.

So is Crosby suppose to be the #1 in 05?

Could it be the (along with the CBA and Mario's last season) one of the main reasons of the Penguins fire sale at just this time????

Remember how god-awful the Pens were the year they got the #1 overall and snagged young Lemieux out of juniors?

Sorry... haven't got use to "this" season being 2003-2004 yet.

Also good to see some of our prospects hitting the scoresheet often in the early going.

Chad/Pete, when are you guys going to start updating the stats page on the HF prospects page?

Yes. Gretzky recently said Crosby's the best player he's seen since Mario.

It's been discussed on other boards here at HF that whoever finishes last this year (my money's on the Pens) may get Ovechkin AND Crosby, provided next year's lockout cancels the entire season.

Not that I want the Lightning to return to its leaner days, but it appears the team was a league doormat a few years too early. How would you like to face, in about five years, Ovechkin and Crosby up front and Fleury between the pipes? With a new small-market-friendly CBA, the Pens could turn into a powerhouse for a decade or more.

And please God, don't let the Panthers finish dead last. I'd rather see Ovechkin-Crosby-Fleury up in Pittsburgh than Ovechkin-Crosby-Luongo down in Sunrise. AARRRGGHH!!!

Reid 2+2, 4 PIM
I like!!

Thought I would do Chad and Pete a favor by posting some NA stats...

WHL GP G A PTS +/- PIM
Darren Reid 3 3 4 7 2 11 (Producing just like I was hoping)
Mike Egener 5 0 0 0 1 25 (Where's the offense?)
Nick Tarnarsky 6 1 3 4 3 11 (A Darren Reid in the making, I'm liking what I'm seeing so far)

OHL
Adam Henrich 3 1 3 4 -1 11 (Needs a big year)
Paul Ranger 3 2 0 2 1 6 (Needs a big offensive year)

QMJHL
Zybek Hrdel 7 2 2 4 1 12(Playing with Crosby never hurts)
Doug OBrien 4 2 3 5 0 4 (So far so good)
Sidney Crosby 7 8 7 15 4 8 (I can dream right?)

AJHL
Jay Rosehill 6 0 3 3 N/A 42 (2nd on team in PIM)
*
Goalies GP W L T GAA SV%
Jonathan Boutin 3 0 2 0 4.550 0.842 (Terrible start for the whole team, I was expecting better numbers after such a great rookie tourny)
Gerald Coleman 2 2 0 0 1.500 0.960 (OHL's #2 goalie)

NCAA hockey starts soon.

Thanks, Erack.

Yes, I forgot about Rosehill. Sorry, Jay.
Egeners PIMs are minus his misconducts. I believe only the Q counts misconduct minutes in PIM totals.

(stats included in Erack's summary)

From last night:

Gatineau 4
Drumm. 2
-O'Brien +1
-Gat now 8-0-1

Rimouski 6
Bat. 3
-Hrdel 2 PIM
-Crosby is a god... I "drafted him" on ESPN 2K4.

Brampton 5
Ottawa 4
-Henrich 3A, +2, 2 PIM, 1st Star

Toronto 4
Oshawa 1
-Ranger with the Oshawa goal (assisted by Lobb)

MJ 5
Lethbridge 2
-Tarnasky 1A

Re: Reid...

He won me over at camp this year. Works his tail off, a little offense, constantly hitting, good defensively. I take it all back Darren, I'm sorry.

Some NCAA camps have started as well.

Anyone know what the deal is with Boutin? I didn't think Halifax was that bad.

I think they wanted him out of there. There were two articles in the N.B. Times and Transcript before the Euro draft that said R-2 would not be coming back to Moncton, among other things. (I don't have either article anymore)

One rumor was that he wanted to go back to Russia. A stronger rumor was they didn't want him back in Moncton.

I can't confirm either one.

The Lightning, at that same time, told me R2 was going to be sent back to Moncton. I wonder why they would say that if R2 intended on leaving. It's a better chance the Lightning would have known about R2 going back to Russia before they knew Moncton didn't want him back if they were planning on sending him back there. That's my guess, anyway.
