I am so pumped for Draisatl. Such an interesting story and route to the NHL. I really hope this is the beginning of a stream of Germans to the NHL.

Thanks S E P H!

I love me some Draisatl as well and hope he pushes into the top 3, but Point is going to be the most intriguing player to watch for me.

Good list! Right now I would take Virtanen over Point though. I really liked his game in the second half of the season.

Curious as to why you have Hicketts over Baillie, especially with the strong playoffs Baillie just had.

I think Hicketts has great potential too, and seems to be more dynamic as the season went on, but Baillie also showed solid growth and was a key contributor for the Rockets.

Draisaitl is an absolute stud. He, Ekblad, Ritchie, and Vrana are my early favorites for 2014.

i'm glad to see you have point where he is, he has tremendous skill and if he can overcome the size issue translating to pro i think he's going to be a very dangerous player.

Ill also say I like virtanen over point.

I'd also slide Payton Lee and Brycen Martin into your top group probably in place of Iverson.

I like how where Hicketts is too. Kid just knows how to play hockey.

Mayo probably finds himself in that top 15 too.

When watching Baillie in the regular season he was sort of unimpressive to be honest. I know he still put up decent points as a 16-17 year old, but he did it very quietly compared to other players. Only in the playoffs did he actually explode into one of the most talked about players for the 2014 draft. Compared to Hicketts who had a strong season throughout the year and made most of his chances IMO. And if there was one player who has a chance to rise on everyones list, Baillie is that player!

Not a fan of 2014 draft, looks "meh" at best. Though it should be really solid for European talent.

I personally would like to see what improvements Lee has made in the offseason before slotting him in the top 15. Don't get me wrong Lee had a solid season as a 16 year old, but he did have a lot of flaws in his game as well.

Nelson Nogier is definitely another player I forgot to list, looked like a regular CHL pro in the Memorial Cup.

Mayo was super solid throughout the playoffs for the Oil Kings and Philp was a consistent contributor for the Ice the entire season. I'm really looking forward to seeing what these two bring to the table next year.

Virtanen and maybe even De Leo over Point, Baillie could also be higher. I'm really looking forward to the draft and to seeing where Draisaitl will go!

I agree about Hicketts, very good player, but, Baillie was a PPG from December through March and then was absolutely dominating in the playoffs, both offensively and physically - ask Colin Smith.

I really think Virtanen is going to sky rocket up in rankings next season. I think his potential to become a high point getter and PIM getter is HUGE. He plays with alot of edge out there and will be an unbelievable talent in a few years.

I know its always said, but hicketts size will be what holds him back from being a high pick. If he was a few inches taller, I think he would be a very high pick. He is extremely small though for a Dman.

Also, I think Payton Lee will turn into a great goalie

Texeria is 2015 prospect, but should be on the team next year.

I do not disagree with you at all, just at this point of time I prefer Hicketts (even with his size) by a slight edge by the reasons I posted above. Also I did say he has biggest chance to rise of all the players, even more than Virtanen IMO.

I have seen over a dozen Portland games this year on TV, Webcast, and one live viewing....I truly question Keegan Iverson's upside.

He is far from a dangerous offensive player at this point, he reminds me of the NHL version of Raffi Torres in the CHL....the problem with that is, Raffi Torres in the CHL at the same stage was already a 35 goal scorer.

At this point, I don't see Iverson as a top 4 round talent (mostly when comparing to this draft...not sure I'm comfortable saying I am familiar with over 120 2014 picks).

I think Iverson is a lot like Smith-Pelly.

Same build, same potential, and same results (2nd rounder-ish). I think he is scratching the surface of what he can do considering the team he is on (depth) and the role he was asked to play (grinder). But you gotta admit he uses his body well in the corners and has good takeaway ability. Would like to see more explosion and his offensive game more, maybe become a bit more puck hog, selfish, and flashiness could go a long way for him.

I had this discussion before with Zenon, but if you wanna talk about overrated players, Adam Musil comes to my mind first and foremost.

How good do you think Quenneville is going to be?

Aso I wasn't a big fan of Jordan Thomson last year, has solid talent, but didn't use it to his full advantage.

Reliable two-way center.

I think he didn't get the chance in Kamloops with such a strong team, he'll get more playing time in his draft year that's for sure.

Totally agree. However he did have limited playing time on Kamloops defense. He played alot of forward actually due to the dmen depth last season. Should get full playing time next season.
