Elliott had a shutout and Hakanpää also picked up his first point in a 2-0 win.

It was a very nice slap-pass by Hakanpaa.

Yes it was! Was it just me or was he like a head taller than everyone else on the ice? He is one big dude! Got beat pretty bad on one of Elliott's big saves. Looks good though.

I noticed that too. Seems bigger than what I thought.

Link?

I was expecting that to happen as soon as Moncton got eliminated from the QMJHL playoffs, but I have yet to see anything anywhere confirming this.

Veilleux should help Peoria's power play; he scored 36 goals in the regular season and playoffs this year, and 23 of those were power-play goals, including the two he scored in the playoffs.

It's Official, the Vancouver Canucks now own the Peoria Rivermen.

His twitter.

Will be good to get a quick look at him this season. Hopefully we'll see some movement with Jaškin in the next couple of weeks and he might be able to head to the AHL as well.

With the sale ownership won't have to pay for a full roster of players. Wonder how the coaches are effected? By sharing a team the Blues probably only get one goalie on the roster. I'm curious as too how much money this move saves the Blues and what is the sale price?

I don' thtink the Blues will be sharing their AHL affiliate, wether it's the Chicago Wolves or whoever next year, with anyone. They will be the only NHL club affiliated with the AHL team, so they will provide the majority oif the players on the roster. The coaches and other hockey operations staff, however, will be contracted to the Wolves (or whoever), so while the Blues will have inpout on who plays and how much, it is ultimately the AHL team and their coaches, etc. that will havew the final say.

That's the one real serious drawback to this whole "sell the AHL affiliate because we're cash-poor" approach.

Understand that if it is the Wolves, StL will have less input than with the average AHL affiliate. Wolves GM stated "they (the Blues) want to talk to us, but we will have some stipulations".

Wolves win because they normally have the best AHL-contracted free agents as their big-minute guys.

I assume the hold-up with Jaskin is due to his contract in the Czech league?

Veilleux will be a nice addition.

Yeah, it is about his contract with Slavia. Hopeful that it might be resolved by the end of this month when Jaškin and his agent meet with Slavia, but it might drag on through the summer.

Anyone know if Jaskin will debut tomorrow? They have back-to-back games, so I wonder how long before he gets called up. Middle or end of next week maybe. Or does he just finish the season in Peoria and just ends up practicing with the team for the last 3 games and during the playoffs.

If McDonald continues to suck and Oshie is still out, I wouldn't be opposed to Jaskin getting a cup of tea.

I think once Peoria's season ends, Jaskin gets brought up and if the official replacement for anyone in the top 9 that gets hurt.

It only took Yannick Veilleux 6:19 to get his first goal for the Rivermen.

Is Jaskin playing? Doesn't seem like it from the boxscore?

Veilleux sounds like a huge presence there tonight. Just listening, as it's impossible to find streams now.

I would still very much like to see him and Perron combine with a French-Canadian center at some point in St. Louis, and re-create the old French Connection Line, Blues-style... Perron fills the Richard Martin role, and Veilleux fills the Rene Robert role.

So what does Veilleux project as? A 3rd line scoring winger?

Bigger, stronger and more physical in D'Agostini. If he can round out his game then he'd certainly be a good 4th line option in a couple of seasons.

With our group of wingers, it's unlikely he'll see a scoring role, but stranger things have happened. Probably a 3rd liner on most teams, if everything goes perfectly then a second line power forward is probably his top potential.
