Dougie Hamilton vs. Jacob Trouba

Two "do it all" dmen, guys who bring high end defensive play, plenty of physicality, a big shot, nice mobility, and plenty of offensive ability in general. Trouba went 9th overall in 2012, Hamilton 9th overall in 2011. Who would you rather have going forward, and why?

Hamilton by a very large margin.

Even if they were both 9th overall picks, Hamilton has proven a lot more since his draft year.

Well he's had an extra year to prove himself, so...

Hamilton but it's close, contrary to what a lot of users here will say I'm sure.

Hamilton.

The poll will likely be extremely one-sided but it's closer than most would expect.

Hamilton. Trouba is more of a safe bet type player.

Also Trouba might play big, but he's only 6'1

A few games at the Wjc won't change my opinion

Hamilton's overrated, still funny how three games have turned HF against him a little bit though. There's no way Trouba would have one vote two weeks ago.

Two weeks ago, this poll would have been 90% for Hamilton.

Not commenting on either player, but opinions here sometimes change fast enough to make your head spin.

Trouba is better defensively, so Trouba.

Definitely Trouba here.

He's such a complete defenceman.

THN draft preview lists him at 6'2"...and his father is 6'9" so there might be more growth to come.

Prior to the draft, Trouba was being billed as a better skating Luke Schenn...his play since then has completely dispelled that notion.

I'm going to go with Trouba. I have seen a lot more of Hamilton, and maybe being swayed here just by such a small sample of Trouba looking so amazing in the WJC and Hamilton being a bit more pedestrian than usual. But it just seems to me that Trouba is much more polished at this time, and has shown a nice progression in his game that I would gamble on continuing.

Too tough to call.

I mean Trouba's been Bobby Orr at the WJC but I hate to fall into the fallacy of small sample size.
