BTW, according to the Pittsburgh papers, this will be the NHL debut of Marc-Andre Fleury. It will be interesting to see how he does even if it is just preseason.

Put it in the books !!!
(Sorry, Howie.)

Snow posts the goose-egg.

One GA in two games ... seems like a good start for the defensive system.

Isles win 1-0. Shots 23-23. Pitts controled the play 1st 10 minutes of the 3rd and rang the post twice. No shots either team last 6-7 minutes.

3 stars
1. Fleury
2. Snow
3. Hamilton

Congrats Hamilton and Snow.

3 Stars of the Game

3rd star : Hamilton
2nd star : Snow
1st star : M-A Fleury

Unconventional for the guy who loses to get the #1 star, particularly when the shots are relatively even, but I can understand why the Pens would want to throw the kid a bone. He did a nice job, even with the L.

Can't wait to 4:00 in Bridgeport tomorrow. Yash and Peca sheduled to get their first action, Bergenheim scheduled to play. I'm juiced....

Sorry.
Looks like ttnorm tt-types faster than I do. Didn't mean to be repetitive.

That whole one shot on goal thing in the third period can't be tolerated in my opinion, especially to a team like the Penguins who did not dress Mario Lemieux and Martin Straka tonight. Great jobs to both goalies, Snow and Fleury for outstanding performances. I can understand with the whole giving Flery the number 1 star. Get his confidence up and plus they were in Pittsburgh. I'm also very glad to see the Isles converting on the PP It also looks like their defensive system is working pretty well. One goal in two games isn't pretty damned bad. Let's hope they continue the trend tomorrow against Boston with the big guns in the lineup!

Tom, your right, it does seem like whoever dresses is playing Stirling's system. The first game was like a trap-style as soon as the Isles took a 2-1 lead and it brought the turnover that made it 3-1 late.

Only listened to the first peirod last night but the Isles seemed to be getting a lot of chances and Fluery was playing well.

Game does not mean a whole lot but what counts is:
No one got hurt.
Snow got a complete game shutout and has been solid over a game and a half.
Isles are learing Stirling's system.

I am probably his biggest fan here since I have seen him several times both at Yale and with the Sound Tigers. He has been a scorer at every level so far. His game is 60% finishing and 40% playmaking. Has got the wheels, the stick handling, and the wrister to play in the big show. The question has always been his ability to make plays on the defensive zone. I thought he made excellent strides there last year in Bridgeport (so did Stirling) but it is still very much a work in progress in terms of the NHL level for sure.

I think he may have bought himself another preseason game or two with his play so far, but I fully expect him to be sent down and have to earn his way up the depth chart.
