Notre Dame did not destroy them. It was tied up until the last 5 or 6 minutes. And their other loss was to K State by I believe 7.

Ignoring that if it wasn't for the computers.... Boise State gets the AQ, so Oklahoma wasn't having anything stole from them like they whined about. The only reason NIU goes instead of Boise is the computers.

I love when this system gets broken, it should get broken, it sucks.

It was also fairly obvious last night, but their resident genius didn't figure it out until he was probably given a tip. NIU had CPU points and was going to get more by winning against Kent State, who got their CPU points by beating Rutgers.
northern illinois is 19th in computers.. 16th in the polls.. so how exactly are they whining about the computers?

Oklahoma beat Tech this year.

Their only Big 12 loss was to KSU.

SEC already has their two in with Alabama and Florida, so none of them would have gotten in. If it wasn't OU, it would've been Clemson. And they sure as **** weren't taking Clemson after last year.

Lol. I read the schedule wrong.

Still, their loss to KSU kept them from earning the automatic bid.

The computers gave them the points they needed to get in. There are teams that are ranked higher than them in the computers that are not involved (like Nebraska, somehow).

Boise has NO computer points and is actually ahead of NIU in the human polls and would qualify if not for the computers. They're the ones that got "screwed" by the computers and the inclusion of NIU. Yet Herbstreit was whining about the computers screwing Oklahoma like some spoiled kid who didn't get the toy he wanted.

By the rules, it would either be NIU or BSU. Not that either is better than the teams you listed.

I understand the only 2 from a conference rule.

but i thought we were talking about how the bcs sucks and one of those 3 should be in.. regardless the stupid rules of bcs.

northern illinois, wisconsin, and louisville dont deserve a bid. especially northern illinois. that game will be a joke.

We just disagree. They lost to two top 5 teams. They deserve to be there.

If they win one of those two, they would be there. They had their shots with the big dogs, and unfortunately for them, they failed both times.

I think you'll be surprised by that one. Not that anyone will care and they'll have to give out a ******** of free tickets.

The thing you're missing is that they DO deserve their bids. They won them, that's the rules.

And the thing that gets lost, in the new system, two bowls are taken away for the semi-final games. So there will be one of these teams as an AQ EVERY YEAR. No matter how they get in. So in the future there may be worse/more obscure teams wandering into a big bowl.

im not saying they dont "deserve" it.. according to bcs rules, they 100% deserve it.

im simply saying that none of those 3 are the top 10 in college football. no where close..

I've never been a huge supporter of the playoff (24 team big) .. but seeing this crap.. i say just do with the playoff system with as much teams as logically possible.

no one wants to see louisville versus florida, florida state versus northern illinois.

ill excuse wisconsin since obviously there were circumstances that dont fall on bcs

There was more or less a playoff this year, though. Crappy big bowls are going to be the wave of the future because the small conferences get an AQ in the new system.

It's not going to make that better.

Both of them will probably be decent games, if Bridgewater can walk 5 weeks from now. I mean they have no draw at all, but it is what it is. Cotton Bowl gets a big game instead, so people can watch that.

You still wouldn't be able to have all the at-large spots taken by the SEC. Frankly, if you're not 1 or 2 in your conference, you shouldn't be in the BCS Bowls.

They did the same thing to Utah before both wins over Alabama and to Boise before they beat OU. I'm not saying NIU will beat FSU, because I don't think they will, but it doesn't matter what teams from non-bcs leagues do year after year because the talking heads at espn only care about the SEC, Big-12, Notre Dame and sometimes the ACC.

Epic Fail by the Pinstripe Bowl. Had the chance to set up a bowl game with one of the best rivalries in the sport... end up with WVU-Cuse, which while it's a rivalry is nowhere near the same level.

If I understand this correctly, ESPN wants every bowl game to be SEC vs. SEC.

It'll piss off and fire up NIU to make a statement much like Utah and Boise St have done.

Also, Oklahoma has the same amount of wins as NIU against top 25 teams....ONE.

By the rules it was only NIU. Boise wasn't eligible. Quit trying to pretend they were. You can't argue OU didn't deserve it for losing two games against a tough schedule when Boise blew it twice playing a cupcake schedule.

Computer rankings:
NIU - 19th (16th in polls)
Utah State - 23rd (20th/21st in polls)
Boise State - 31st (15th in polls)
