Sources: No Contact Between NHL, Players

Eklunds full of crap man...

(02-06) 13:58 PST
The NHL and the players' association have not been in contact since talks broke off before the weekend, two sources close to the negotiations told The Associated Press on Sunday on condition of anonymity.

From TSN

Sources on both sides confirmed Sunday that there has been no communication since Friday's talks ended in New York.

Another source close to the talks said the union will not pick up the phone, so expect the NHL to do just that on Monday. It wants another kick at the can before it's too late.

I am in no way defending eklund, but who says that Tsn and/or their "sources" aren't full of crap? Who says thier sources are good enough to find out the truth? Who says thier sources aren't "planting" stories for others? I am believing noone in the print media anymore.

Who are they trying to fool ?? FANS ??

If the NHL and NHLPA are in contact ..then Bettman and Goodenow will know about without doubt and what do they care if Sports media are planting stories they do not effect the parties involved only us Fans ..

Here's something I find interesting from that tsn article:

League sources, however, insist both sides have indeed made some progress, much more than the NHLPA is willing to admit.

What the heck??!?!!?? What is true here?!?!?!?

What that is about perception ..

There are lots of issues involved within a CBA .. Perhaps they have made some progress on an issue like the Age of Unrestricted Free Agency and other minor things, or Rookie signing bonuses .. but on the big issue of a Cap and Linkage they got no where and as such ..the others are really irrelevant because unless they are resolved the headway they made is not important .. or makes them any closer to a New CBA ..

So technically both sides are right and the statement they could have made progress but still are no closer in fact . Talking alone verses not talking could be considered progress really .

or, they've made progress on the daily per-diem for road trips.

until linkage is taken off the table, there will be no negotiated agreement.

I'll beleive then over some guy who uses an alias, has been shown to be full of crap before, and has yet to have his "article" published.

Put Simply

One side wants BLACK

The other side wants WHITE

and until both sides AGREE that Grey is a possible SOLUTION ..

Then we are going nowhere and meetings are not required to have no action ..

Planted stories for who? It's not like the NHL would plant this story to fool the NHLPA, because obviously the union would know if they had been speaking with the league.

Actually, instead of black and white it is easier to say.

One side is demanding they will only accept X
One side is demanding that they will not accept X

That makes a middle ground much harder to find because they are mutually opposiing positions.

Good of you not to believe anyone. Like all too many hockey fans you're allowing yourself to be led down whatever path you'd like to believe. But the Associated Press, give me a break they're the world's largest organization, not some fool (the guy Eck with that stupid blog), whose playing games with people's heads.

League and Union sources wouldn't tell if they were in communication anyways. I don't believe anything I read in the mainstream media about this lockout anymore. The media is a tool used to further each sides cause, not a means to inform the fans.

I was optimistic a few weeks back but about a week ago, I gave up. The reason is obvious, no sense of urgency. They meet every few days, not on the weekends etc... They don't care, so why should we?

Isn't this from the same company (SEPN/TSN) that stated the season would be cancelled by Friday via an owner and EJ Hradek.

TSN can shove it they don't know what's going on either.

Eklund thinks that leak was released to discredit him.

I'm completely serious. That is what he said.

Not only that, but he's referring to himself in the third person now.

Man...how long before Eklund dissolves the Galactic Senate and declares himself Emperor?

I know he's the Blogger of Which We Doth Not Speak, but seriously: Shouldn't someone like him, journalist or rumor *****, be right about something at some point? Even Drudge hits the bull's-eye once in a while. To think that Eklund not only has fans swallowing his B.S., but some segments of the hockey media as well...

So he thinks he is important enought that they are going to put out a press release just for him? How delusional can you get?
