I am 6'3".

I do not notice a difference in leg room. Not saying it is roomy, but in "old" Garden my shins what hit top of seat in front of me. Know my knees might hit back of seat. I think the old seats were lower to ground, and I would sometimes get a pain in my hip area after sitting a while. Dont know why, but MSG is only place I ever felt this. Not a problem in new Garden do far.

Verdict: Same/similar leg room (not good). Better sight line. More people making me stand up so they can make 2,3,5 trips to concessions/bathroom.

I was 338 B, now 209 3, so very happy!

MSG looks like every other cookie cutter arena now. What made us unique & diffirent is gone.

They're also redoing the ceiling this summer, wonder what they'll be doing

I believe just power washing and getting rid of the purple bits that remain on it - the little pin joint things near the scoreboard assembly... whatever those deals are called.

There's definite design flaws in the new building. When they moved the skyboxes down, in some sectioned they had to move the seats closer together. One section specifically is 113. If you are 6ft, you knees will 100% not only hit the seat in front of you you will probably have to sit on an angle. Something to think about before you spend $114 on a ticket.

What made the arena unique pissed enough people off and didn't make the team money. So that explains the change. I still would have preferred a new building from the ground up.

This. While I prefer the location on 7th Ave., a new MSG on 9th Ave as the western half of the Farley Post Office and new Penn Station would have been very nice. But the City wouldn't allow Dolan to keep his tax abatement at a different location, so he stayed put and went with the renovation instead.

I wonder if the old blue seats were like that before the first renovation.

Looking at the Knicks game, the lights are turned off on the crowd. How come they now keep it on for the Rangers?

Because the ice surface is 17000 sq ft. The basketball court is only 4700.

And? The lights were always off for the Rangers and now it's not. Normally, the lights are only on above the ice and off everywhere else.

The lights that you are referring to were always on; they were just in a different place and a different temperature (yellower). The lights that used to be behind the banners are now in the "sails" of the roof. The effect is just different because the new lights are stronger.

Then how could it make a difference in a basketball game? The upper 200s are so far away from the court/ice where it shouldn't make a difference at all. If they are able to keep the lights off in the upper 200s during a basketball game, I don't see how it would make a difference for a hockey game.

I'm not sure, to be honest. I think the amount of space they have to cover with the new lights affects which ones they use and what the lights hit - it hasn't yet been enough time for me to get used to them.

Well, I finally got to check the Garden out last night and a few observations: 1. Leg room is a bit better (new 225 vs old 308); 2. Sightlines are better (this was actually more noticeable than I expected, 3. Upstairs concourse looks a litle like an unfinished basement and 4. Why does the "mens" room behind 225 have 15 stalls and no urinals? What the hell were they thinking?

All in all, nice experience, a lot fewer steps to climb and comfortable seats. I like the place.

Guy cleaning bathroom said they switch some bathrooms from Female to Male for sports events. Makes sense (too much sense for me to believe MSG is doing it).

Wait, the one outside of 225 was a men's restroom? It was a women's one opening night so that would back up what ban said.

Only in the lower bowl as far as I saw. Last year I had cup holders down there, and this year in 226 upper bowl, no cup holders. It makes sense though, there is hardly any room for people to walk through. Cup holders would have made it impossible.

i think he was referring to the re-usable cups they used to give everyone with their beers. if thats the case, no.. they're using plastic throw away cups

You are right. Those cups were great to reuse at home

OK so I finally voted for New MSG. But it wasn't a slam dunk.

I really like the new Garden, new concessions, and most of all, improved sightlines. At the end of the day, I am there to "see" the game. And my view now is outstanding.

and yet....I really miss the Old Garden. Lots of fond memories with my kids, friends etc. sigh
