Funny - but no. I just hate Marty McSorley. That part of the movie warms the cockles of my heart.

What a crappy night. Came home to find a denial for the MRI I had on my elbow. Insurance company says it's "Not medically necessary". I'm sorry, when your elbow joint is a gnat's ass from being fully dislocated, swollen like a softball, so when the orthopedist sees it, he says "whoa!", and you can't move your arm past 90 degrees, it's pretty god-damned medically necessary. Then my washer broke. It won't spin. Sounds like the motor is slipping when it tries to engage the tub/drum. All in all, an expensive night. ****.

you can get them to pay it. just hv the doctor write a note of medical necessity and fax it to the ins. co.
we do it all the time in the office for older patients who cant really pay their bill
(chances are they just didnt code it right)

shhhhh.

This. My son's hospitalization for his wisdom teeth removal AND his anesthetic were both denied but overturned on appeal.

There must be enough people who don't contest these insane judgements to make it worth their while.

Gotta love inaccurate coding It happens every time I go to my ankle doc. The idiots in X-ray botch the follow up ICD-9 code and insurance number every time.

The appeals process is pretty simple for getting tests covered. Artemis and Kovi, we could probably swap similar horror stories about medical procedure appeals. No one other than your doctor should be allowed to tell you a procedure isn't medically necessary but I understand the need for checks and balances.

95 % of my job is medical coding. Sometime its me that messes it up, but more often its one of a few things

-the doc forgot a code/and or put it on after I sent it to billing.

-the ins. co arbitrarily stopped accepting the code (this happened very recently with NHIC and sent my paperwork into a spiral)

-the code was just the wrong code for that dx.

ins. companies only hv the little billing sheets to work with. stuff gets messed up all the time.

it helps for the patient to stay calm, work with the biller, and just get a quick letter from the doc. (I actually write them, he signs them)

This is exactly why they do it. Imagine how much money they've taken in falsely just by using this tactic. It's insane.

Such a great movie. Anything by the Coen brothers is great, and when you throw in Buschemi on top of it, I'm all in...

When you say "going to..." it implies that I'm not already a huge fan, which we both know isn't true.

I wish I hadn't already packed away the DVD players and movies. I wouldn't mind watching Fargo right about now

Classic

We're in the same mode at my house. Packing things and then needing or wanting them after the box is sealed. It's a drag, but we're happy to get the process moving.

"I'm going crazy out there at the lake."

"Looks like she's gonna turn cold tomorrow."

One of the best movies I've ever seen.
