If Corrado was a Leafs prospect, he'd be getting boatloads of hype.

Embrace the hate I guess.

Hfboards loves draft position.

Reinhart isn't cut out for big ice at this stage but is a 4th overall pick so people automatically slot him in.

Being a RH shot and an excellent skater will help corrado's chances big time.

I don't care what the anti-Canuck sentiment of HF says.
Try reading newfy's posts... he's been pumping their tires for months while calling down Corrado.

Really takes away from a thread when you have something similar to this:

Canuck fan: " Wow no one mentions Corrado, I think he could be a darkhorse or even get the 7th spot"

Everyone in that thread: "Corrado isn't on ______'s level, he isn't as good defensively as ______ & _______ is better offensively. Corrado is a fringe player at best."

And my favourite newly overused word: "dark horse"

That's how I look at it but Murphy plays for the coach in the OHL, so...

I've been wondering why more people haven't brought that up. Those 3 are all excellent PP QBs, in addition to actually playing like a defenseman. I don't want to risk pumping tires so I won't mention Frankie's 2 way play There's really no reason for a one trick pony.

I think having an OHL coach for the team is in Frankie's favour. He's coached against him and knows what he's capable of, so if he actually deserves to be there, he'll get a fair chance.

Even if Corrado doesn't make the team, him making it to camp is still a recognition that he's one of the top Canadian junior defensemen out there. Which is totally awesome

Well if by fringe player they mean he's more likely to not make the team, and if he does it will likely be as the number 7, then they're probably right.

Especially given that if it's a toss-up between Corrado and Reinhart/Dumba, they'd likely give it to the younger players because they'll be returning next year, while this is Corrado's last year of eligibility. It's really not a knock on his talent.

Don't they usually go with the older player if it comes down to age?

Only if they've had prior experience. But they always look for new faces who can provide experience for the next year, too. So the odds are stacked against Corrado, but it's not impossible he makes it, of course.

Blomstrand had 2 goals in his game today. Now at 3 goals and 1 assist in 6 games with his new club. That's great production at his age in that league. Apparently he's on the 1st line too...

Anyone speak Swedish? Very short interview with Blomstrand: http://www.almtuna.com/nyheter/axmskmc46x

I have never seen hockey Canada favour younger players.

It's absolutely stupid for a coach to pick a team with an eye to the future in this tourney. It's a 19 year old tournament.

Ummm - what?

They only select 19 year olds if they had experience as 18 year olds? Is that what you are saying Vankiller Whale?

Do you care to back that up with, say, the last three U20 Rosters?

I didn't say that. I said that if there were players who were basically even then they may as well go with the youger one. If Corrado plays better than Reinhart/Dumba/whoever at camp, he'll get the spot, obviously.

Jesus H... Sudbury gives up 5 unanswered goals. Sadly, its not even the most embarrassing loss in the past 2 weeks.

Just counting down the time for Corrado to be traded to a contender. Trade deadline is coming!

The link is not working. But if you can find the correct one, I can try and see if I can understand the interview.

Seems Jensen was on the first line with Mattias Janmark and Broc Little in this game, and played almost 24 minutes. If he gets to play with those two regularly it's a very good move for him. He had great chemistry with Broc Little earlier in the season, and Janmark and Little are probably the two hottest players on the team.

EDIT: Just saw the goal, really great goal. Jensen breaks up Timrås play in his defensive zone, pokes it to Little who carries it up the ice, and passes it to Jensen in front of the goal. http://aikhockey.se/trupp/AIK/4937

They took it down. The good news is that they have now posted the highlights: http://www.almtuna.com/nyheter/l7xzarp9dx (Blomstrand's two goals at 0:55 and 2:17.)

Looks like an interesting player from those highlights. His skating seems effortless and that shot was very good. Would like to see more of him and hope he can stay on that 1st line.

I find it promising, and a bit remarkable, how Jensen scores in so many different ways - shooting, crashing the net, deflections, off the rush, shootouts. Guy just seems to be able to consistently put the puck in the net.

Is Blomstrand a Gradin pick?
