Darnell Nurse plays a similar game. Although to be honest Josh Morrissey is my favourite "mid 1st round" defenseman.
I have a feeling Morrissey will be gone around 11-14, and that Zadorov might fall a little bit, but yeah, I really like Morrissey too. Honestly though, any one of Pulock, Ristolainen, Morrissey, Hagg or Zadorov and I'll be ecstatic. Come to think of it, pretty much any defenseman in the 1st round would be excellent. I love this draft.
I definitely wouldn't mind it though if we could pull Frederik Gauthier or Anthony Mantha out though
After tonight's Wolves (CHI) game, I think that if we get a pick from 15-25 in the draft lottery (I've written off the season now..) we need to draft Nikita Zadorov. For those who don't know about him, he's a 6'5 230lbs defenseman who plays a great all around game, he's tough but can move well for his size and I think he would complement our prospect pool very well. Only knock is that he's left handed.
I've been left wanting more everytime I see London play with Zadorov.
I'm not overly impressed.
Now at 15th or later, I could be convinced his ultimate upside is worth it, but I'm not a big fan right now.
Labate finally got his first goal of the season tonight.
I asked the Harvard fans at the USCHO boards about McNally. They don't know any more than we do, but two other guys are also gone from the roster.
With regards to Labate, watched Wisconsin's game this morning.
Goal was luck, shot into the goalies skates from the goal line.
Wisconsin looks much better with Zengerle and Kerdiles in the lineup, the problem for us is that Labate hardly plays.
He wasn't used once in OT, he's rotated at what I would deem the 2nd line LW position.
I am slowly losing faith this kid has a chance to ever make the NHL, generally you need to be an impact player in the NCAA to even have a chance...he's a passenger at best on a poor team right now.
1 more goal will put Jensen at 13 which would be the the most goals by a junior age SEL player since Patric Hornqvist in 06-07. And the last 19 year old to hit 13 goals before Hornqvist was Daniel Sedin in 99-00.

Ouch, yeah sounds like a pretty bad sophomore slump.

Other than Jones and Pulock, I would probably rather pick most of the 1st round forwards right now. It's a bigger weakness and even though we don't have a #1 D, our defense outside of that is stacked.
Man, not only are his hands and shot amazing, I was very glad to see him active in front of the net near the beginning of that video, trying to tip the puck in. That shows that he isn't afraid of going to the rough areas and that he isn't just a perimeter sniper. Loui Eriksson is looking more and more like a solid comparable.
What a great goal. Jensen is a dual citizen. If he had elected to play for Canada do you think he would be a candidate for a roster spot on the juniors this year?
