Looks like the Sox are closing on Victorino too. More $$$, shorter terms... Cherington living up to his words. Our best prospects will not be ready to contribute until 2 years, at the very least. Good job,so far, by the Sox.
Are you finally starting to see the folly of what's been happening this offseason? Welcome to the dark side, BP!!
No. I like the Napoli signing (partly because options weren't great), but I still have faith in any GM that could swindle a team like he did the Dodgers. I have to believe they wouldn't be dumb enough to make such a huge, shrewd trade and follow it up by adding a Victorino at probably 50% more than he's worth. So I'm assuming one of Cafardo's chins wrote that tweet and it's not correct.
I can be pessimistic, but you've gone to full-on hate mode. I'm nowhere near there.

Victorino is crap. Crap.
If Victorino gets $13m per season then Swisher might get $25m.

26 mil combined for Napoli and Victorino? Have your standards shrunk that much?

When i look at our situation, i think paying more $$$ for shorter term is the best strategy. Victorino is a versatile player who will help the team. The $$$ might too much for him but Ellsbury will walk at the end of next year and Bradley will not be ready until 2 years. Cody Ross might have been a cheaper option but it doesn't solve the void at centerfield that the team will face at the end of next season.

Victorino has sucked for three years.
You think signing him for three years is short term?
Like how Victorino plays, don't want him on my team.
I have to say I don't mind them going after players and overpaying for shorter term contracts, no more of this 7 year/150 million dollar deal BS. But target the appropriate players if thats the idea.
You HAVE to believe Larry has his nose all in this. There's no reason this team should be sniffing Victorino for 3 years even with a vacant OF spot. I get they need to sell tickets, but I fail to see how he makes them a better team aside from the fact that they have an OF opening.
Love the Haren deal for Washington....if he gets back to anywhere near his old self their pitching is going to be filthy next year with him/Strasburg/Zimmerman/Gonzalez.
Good move for Haren to...sign a one year deal with a contending team in the NL...should be able to help his numbers and then he can cash in next year.

Potentially a very nice signing...under the radar, very good move...
I hope my Mets can get Lannan in there.... Then move Dickey for some help at a couple positions...
They should have picked up Pagan for one extra year and 2 extra million if they wanted a guy like Victorino IMO...
A guy who I think would look good on Boston as a platoon would be Scott Hairston...Destroys lefties and would pepper the Green Monster IMO...
Pagan would have cost a draft pick, no? I think this why the Sox targeted Napoli and then Victorino. Not sure Cherington want to give their 2nd round pick.
