I don't think Hamilton to Boston is a very good idea at all. If you have beer in the clubhouse, and you have a literal alcoholic (not just a drunk, a guy with the condition known as alcholism), that's not just Hamilton's career at stake, it could kill him.

Agreed. Hamilton is not a good fit for this team and if the Sox are about to spend big bucks, spend it on pitching.

Scott Lauber of the Herald tweeted that Salty could interest the White Sox...in return for Floyd. I think I would do that.

Does anyone know his Floyd's stats at Fenway park?

I don't know what's wrong with my brain today. For some reason I was thinking it was a trade for Cliff Floyd and I was like, isn't he retired?

Anyway, Gavin Floyd is an interesting possible return for Salty. If you have that deal in front of you I think you have to go for it.

Then its time to change the scenery. The Rangers had a system in place and the players celebrated in ginger ale when they won the pennent for him. Its all about respect. If they respect him and the mgmt has put it in place, he should be fine.

He's a great guy with some problems, but I think he'd be a good fit given the chance.

In a perfect world, not having to give up WMB or Bogaerts for Upton in 2014 we could be looking at:

1. Bradley Jr.
2. Pedroia
3. Ortiz
4. Hamilton
5. Upton
6. Bogaerts
7. Middlebrooks
8. Napoli
9. Lavarnway

it's nice to dream.

Great NL west race that year as well in regular season. Too bad the Giants had to miss out but that's life pre wild card.

I could be wrong, but under the 1993 structure the red sox are in 94 year World Series drought. The 2004 team wouldn't have made playoffs, and Cleveland wins 2007 AL East in old alignment.

Boston and Cleveland tied for the best record in the AL in 2007 (96-66), but Boston got the tie-breaker/home field because they went 5-2 against the Indians. They were the best team in the league that year (101-61 pythag. record compared to 91-71 for Cle.)....ahhh the good ol' days.

At the very least, under the old alignment, Boston and Cleveland would have had a one game playoff....I think.

Gavin Floyd would be a very interesting pickup. He pitches inside a lot and I like that.

Would the Red sox take a chance with Melky Cabrera - on a one year deal, that is?

I've heard a few people suggest that. I don't think it's out of the question, but I'm not sure he'd be atop their list of OF options.

Cubs to sign Scott Baker. Smart pickup on Theo's part. When healthy, he's been a pretty solid pitcher, and the move to the NL can only help.

Hunter appears to be down to the Tigers or the Rangers.

There is no evidence he is an everyday player when not on steroids.

This team has enough issues without adding that soon to be walking clown show.

Meh. I'll save being bummed out for someone not 37-year-old outfielder.

I thought the Mike Cameron signing was inspired at the time.....
