That took a while.

At least there wasn't a blow up.

Looks like they want to meet by midday - someone better tell Fehr that it's at 9AM.

So is it safe to assume this was not an outright rejection of the union's counter?

QUOTE=stan the caddy;56971833]He expects to here back tomorrow but it would have taken him 3 days to do the same thing.[/QUOTE]

On the positive side, at least the NHL is going to take the time to read this proposal. The other times they just stomped out 5 mnutes after hearing the proposal and made statements like not speaking the same lanuage, hll they will die on etc. This seems more like the way a typical negotiation works. But with these two sides nothing will likely be typical.

Oh, that's just great. I'm sorry, but the PA gamesmanship just needs to STOP. If they want to get a deal done, it's time to put it aside and get to work. REAL work.

I've been expecting things to go sour since I first heard about this new proposal. I'm very pessimistic for what tomorrow will bring.

Bettman says they hope to meet before midday. Openly admitted there is drop dead of Jan 19 to drop puck on 48 game season.

The less detailed the info is, the better. For the first time, they're respecting each other's offer.

After hearing Bettman's presser im pretty convinced were going to see hockey soon. He explained all the disjointed tweets weve been getting. Essentially said they asked the PA to highlight what in the proposal they wanted worked on and that was what the PA presented.

IMO PA knew their deal wouldn't be accepted, or else it wouldn't have been so short. Their goal was to FU the owners in the hopes of making them move more

Sure did.
Of course, the NHLPA proposal would only need to list the changes from the NHL proposal. It could contain several lines like "Pages 59-80: no changes". There's no need to physically copy the areas that they are in agreement with.

I assume you mean "review" not "revise".

How many times does this have to happen? They meet, make a proposal, a counter proposal, HF boards loses their mind in optimism, sides says they're still not close, talks blow up, players ***** on twitter, don't meet for months. Rinse and repeat since October.

Except that's not what we were told the league had asked them to do. However, it's been clarified now that the league apparently changed its request for a full CBA response to highlighting areas they wanted to discuss, so that's good.

That's what I had thought. People criticizing the PA for the size of their proposal need to recognize that they are likely only responding to contentious issues rather than resubmitting a complete CBA. The fact that both sides are finally negotiating is great news.
