PGT: Election Day 2012 - Part: IV - Obama re-elected
Right because it anyone knows about the value of work, it's an obese drug addict who built a career out of parking his fat ass in a chair and talking about how horrible other people are!
Any deviation from "**** you, I've got mine" is going to be recast in such a light. It's pathetic. Supposed Christians don't believe in taking care of their fellow man. That's the big hypocrisy in all of this.
Following President Obama's re-election last night, rational people (conservative and liberal alike) continued on with their lives, business as usual. But in Mississippi, this was not to be.
You see, plenty of people are upset Mitt Romney lost. Many of those enraged are millionaires and religious zealots. But there is another group—a group of University of Mississippi students—who are angry as well. Last night they gathered on campus in front of several dorms to protest the re-election of a black president.
Local media reports that "hundreds of Ole Miss students exchanged racial epithets and violent, politicized chants" across campus. As many as 400 students are said to have participated. There are also reports that several students were arrested during the protest, though none have been officially charged. There were mixed reports about whether or not rocks were thrown as well.
It's not about voting in Romney nearly as much as voting out Obama. His first 4 years have been an economic failure and his latter 4 will only be worse as his policies take a stranglehold and stifle business growth (and net job creation).
Take heart you still have...Oh damn.
You have nothing.
You are just f-u-c-k-e-d.
Now get back in that bubble and start worrying about how Obamacare is going to ruin the country.
I would just like to thank the rest of California for buying into the Governor's fear mongering to push us into the the highest "temporary" taxes in the country. He's not going to use the money for schools you morons.
really?
my wife works for lausd and she said they cancelled the 15 extra furlough days.

My only concern on Military spending is, pet projects never get cut.
The easy cut in military spending is Soldier pay and benefits.
I am a Marine and have seen pay cuts under just about every president. I have served under. When people ask for Military spending reduction, the politicians simply cut payroll.
They are not going to touch their sweet heart defense contracts. Democrats and Republicans alike don't touch those sweet deals they cut with defense contractors.
They simply make certain members retire early.....Then the reduce standing forces, close bases (hurts local economy). And then slash our pay and benefits.
I haven't heard of soldiers losing pay and benefits. Granted it may be happening, but given how regularly Damacles' posts have contained factual errors, I can't really take him at his word.
And the part about "sweet heart defense contracts" never getting touched is rubbish. I have a good friend who works for Raytheon, which depends very heavily on U.S. military spending, and she's been worried about losing her job for at least 3 years. They've had big layoffs, to the point where they're not even using one of their two buildings in that town (a building which was previously full).
Dean Chambers of UnSkewed ReallySkewed Polls missed by a whopping 105 electoral votes predicting Romney would come in at 311 and Obama at 227. So Dean "Tub o' Lard" Chambers the manly man was bested by that thin effeminate Nate Silver guy.

There is no correlation between tax cuts and an improvement in the economy and employment. None. Never has been. This is a fact. Your talking points are nothing but hot air.
You're wrong. Kennedy cut tax rates in the 60's, as did Reagan in the 80's. The effect was that people were incentivized to take their money out of tax-free securities and invest it into ventures that were more economically active. It increased production and income, and overall tax revenues went up even though the rates went down.

Chambers is unskewing the election results. It turns out Romney won after all!
Obama is currently ahead by 46,061 votes, 49.8% to 49.3%. It's roughly in the range of an automatic recount but I don't know if they'd bother going ahead with it.
I must say, that was the one result that really surprised me. One of the most impressive aspects of Silver's model yesterday is that it was able to pick up the last-minute shift to Obama, especially in the popular vote, and project a razor-thin margin in Florida based on that.
A week ago, I don't think any Democrat thought in their heart-of-hearts that Obama was winning Florida, unless they weren't paying attention.

lol, thanks for sharing. Silver's work has indeed been impressive this time again.

That's not an acceptable platform for winning an election against an incumbent president, as has been proven 2 of the last 3 election cycles. You have to actually bring ideas to the table.

And UC isn't getting cut an additional $250M cut and the state will buyout about $126M in student increases for 2012-13 (of course they're not going to actually give the funds to UC until July 2013, so there will be a temporary budget shortfall in 2012-13). I'm not familiar with how CSU's budget will be impacted, except that they will also now be spared from an additional automatic $250M cut this year as well.
So yes, this is a tremendous help to higher education (not including the community colleges). UC has already received close to a billion dollars in cumulative cuts in recent years, so another $250M cut would have been devastating (about the entire state fund budget of one of the mid-sized UC campuses), and student fees would have skyrocketed even more than they already have.
Boenher wisely backs off his "no tax increases" speech from last night and says today he is open to "new revenue" to reach a budget compromise.
Obama has a real chance to go big on this if he's willing to upset his base a little.
I suspect they could get a deficit reduction package that would really do something if it is weighted about 3:1 or 4:1 spending cuts to increased revenue.
Boehner's take is exactly the way I took the message of last nights elections
Quote:
With Obama’s decisive electoral victory and Republicans’ hold on the House, with a slightly smaller majority, Boehner (R-Ohio) said Tuesday’s election amounted to a plea from voters for the parties to lay down their weapons of the past two years and “do what’s best for our country.”
So the day after the election they have the money already? Amazing.
No. The furlough days were one of the ways LAUSD was probably going to manage their share of the trigger cut for for K-12 if Prop 30 had not passed. Now there won't be a trigger cut, so they can restore the days that were going to be furloughed.

WHOA... hold on here.
I thought Romney was going to win - was that not your claim since Nate Silver and his ilk were manipulating the polls to make it look like Romney was losing????

I don't think you need to give Preds a hard time about this, he posted a pretty gracious mea culpa in the election day thread.
I've yet to hear a single pundit admit how stupid they were though.

To be fair to Preds, he did man up and give credit to Nate Silver last night.

Yet Boehner has already stated (on the day of the election, no less) that he intends to take a hardline position of no tax raises. That's sort of like saying you want to redo the roof on your house, but you're not allowed to use any roofing materials.
