Exactly. If anything having Armstrong going around with his patented cheap-shots and general uselessness (except being dirty) will increase the likelihood that Gally will be targeted by the other teams goons.

If Galchenyuk is deemed ready to play top-9 minutes in Montreal, he'll learn a heck of a lot more from that situation than from playing with a top team in the OHL and the WJC. However, if he does have to stay in the OHL, I'd argue that it's better for his development to be the go-to guy on a weaker team that having it easy with a powerhouse. The only benefit of playing with a superior team might be his stats and stats are irrelevant.

We want him to have a long playoff run in the OHL, Fozz.

Again, he'd learn more from a 4 game first round exit in the NHL than 20 OHL playoff games.

Personally I don't agree. It's always a gamble to put 18 year olds in the NHL, and in Gally's case he's already missed a full season of Junior. I'm not sure that playing limited minutes on a losing NHL team will be such a better learning step for him than dominating the OHL and playing in WJCs. To my mind, he still has plenty to learn in Junior. I don't see what the upside is for him or for the team to put him in the NHL this year. If our NHL roster was better and we could protect him more (like Boston did with Seguin, ie.) I'd be more comfortable with it, but to me it's a high-risk, low-reward move. I'd much rather let him develop for this year.

Obviously this is a matter of opinion.

Fair enough.
I do see him playing with Eller and one of Prust/Moen/Armstrong.
Moen could be great for Galchenyuk. That could be a killer line...Galchenyuk - Eller - Moen.

And, there are so many other line combinations...to be made with time. Eller on the wing...many of us prefer him as center, so...Galchenyuk on the wing? (just for his first season?).

So many options...hopefully the coach will give many players a shot at playing with Galchenyuk and finding that chemistry:
Galchenyuk - Pleks - Gionta/Cole/Pacioretty
Galchenyuk - Desharnais - Cole/Pacioretty
Moen/Prust - Eller - Galchenyuk

Go Galchenyuk Go!!!! (and stay healthy).

As a sympathizer of Canadiens, must say that Galchenyuk's slick and flawless passes are remind me so much of Forsberg.

TBH, I don't think Sarnia will go far in the playoffs if they make it. He would stand a better chance at going for into the playoffs if he was traded to a contender like Kitchener, London, Guelph, and Owen Sound.

I know everyone is hoping for this to happen, but I don't think Beaulieu wants to trade his star captain. But then again, they can't let Gally walk for nothing like they did with Stamkos and Yakupov.

Agreed.

But other than that they're not that similar, according to other posters.

IMO I see the comparison.

Bit confused. Did you want to write ''than'' instead of ''and'' there. Or are you suggesting keep him up in the NHL and then send him back for the OHL playoffs?

But really I was replying to this:

A superior team in the OHL would mean a long playoff run, which is not irrelevant at all.

Agreed. Teams like Kitchener, London, etc., would be the stronger teams looking to add a piece to put them over the top.

I actually don't disagree...haven't seen that much of Armstrong but the little I have in last few years...he can throw thunderous bodychecks, but...like some say here...if Armstrong is very dirty sometimes it might even put Galchy in a bad position. Maybe Moen is better for Galchy. Still...I'd try Armstrong for 2-3 games.

Cole-Pleks-Galchy
Galchy-Eller-Armstrong
Moen-Eller-Galchy
and many more options...so many!! (good thing).

Style/comparisons:
Forsberg, Marian Hossa, Jonathan Toews, Kopitar, and maybe some Malkin...

I would think Kitchener would really like him, I imagine Galchenyuk wouldn't mind setting up Matt Puempel.

I bet even Tobias Rieder benefits from Gally's sweet passes as well.

Yes, the word "than" is missing. Thanks for the correction.

I love that he's compared to great players...Galchy deserves nothing less. I'd like to fast forward all this junior development (to get away from any injuries while still a junior) and get him to the Bulldogs!

Still (on the other hand)...glad he's not a pro yet 'cause soooooooo looking forward to the WJC

We agree more than you think. I did state that this is only IF he's deemed ready for a top-9 role, which would automatically give him more than limited minutes. Now that he's played over 20 games this year, I'm sure he's got his timing back and he's getting dangerously close to being too good for the OHL, thus seriously limiting how much he can learn in that league. Plus, he's much more advanced physically than Seguin was in his first year in Boston.

Agreed. I find he would benefit more in Hamilton, but the WJC should be a great experience for him.

Salivating!! Looking so forward to it!! So many Hab prospects!!
And maybe there will be more than the above!? (we'll see, but right now it does look like it is the above five players).

No NHL, but...the WJC is always so exciting!!
Like some write here...the WJC hype/excitement can be compared to being a kid again when opening or giving gifts!!! Great feeling!! (but that's also referring to the trade deadline!!).

To all our prospects (Gally/Galchy, Hudon, Vail, Collberg, Nystrom...):
just stay healthy...keep playing well, but watch out for the dirty/violent players out there. Keep your heads up, watch your backs,etc... 'cause the WJC is coming soon and you want to be healthy for that!! with that written...I hope Geoffrion will recover and be a 100% healthy.

Well, Bozon should be on the Swiss team at the WJC, so we'll be watching 6 prospects.

And I couldn't agree more, WJC is the best Junior hokcey to watch for the tight competition and the number of excellent prospects participating in the tournament.
