Not a whole lot of ice time in the 3rd for Galchenyuk's line.

He saw five shifts for 2:30 ice-time, although one of the shifts lasted 8 seconds before going to the box, and another was 20 seconds, which came when he left the penalty box.

Great game for Gally.

Hopefully he will go on a scoring streak.

Wait, 4 points in 15 mins of ice-time?

8-2 win for Sarnia against Peterborough. Galchenyuk picked up a goal and 3 assists. It was one of his best performances this year.

Galchenyuk's first period was one of the best periods of hockey I've seen by a player in the OHL this year. He was incredible. A minute in to the game he scored off a quick deke and rifling a backhander top shelf. Next shift he had a nice passing play with Boucher and Galchenyuk on his backhand again just missed the net. He had a pair of incredible passes to Boucher on the PP. One was right in the slot, the next was down low but Boucher fanned on it. The same shift he set up Sarault after cutting to the front of the net and a filthy backhand pass for an assist. To close out the period he had a nice play where he carried the puck across the blue line and then slowed down and toyed with the opposition while he waited for space to open. Just like in the first, Galchenyuk wasted no time getting on the scoresheet. He got an assist just 24 seconds in on the PP. He passed the puck from the boards to Murphy. Murphy passed to Sarault who passed back to Murphy who blasted it in the net. He had a nice steal behind the net later on in the period, and also had a nice pass interception. On the PP that period, his passes were all crisp and accurate. He made a ton of nice passes. In the third Galchenyuk was a bit quieter, but that could be attributed to less ice time as he was great every time he was on. He a pretty funny sequence of events where he tipped a shot wide, then the puck came to the blue line and he was all alone and then the puck got tipped wide off his stick again. Eventually the puck found it's way to Boucher who scored a weird goal. He also picked up a slashing penalty (coinciding), but I'm not sure either player deserved a penalty there. To close out the game he had a great chance in front of the net, but couldn't bury it.

Overall, I thought he played a fantastic game. He had a great first period, but slowed as the game wore on. He got a bit lucky on some of his points, but he had a great game overall. I liked how willing he was to slow down the play and then pick up the pace right after that. Also, he seemed very confident in his backhand, I don't recall ever seeing him use it that much this season.
________________

-Reid Boucher picked up 3 points, and rightfully so. He had a ton of chances but only buried two of them.
-Charlie Sarault may have had the quietest 5 point night I think I've ever seen. He made some good plays, but apart from that I didn't really notice him. Good for him for picking up the points though, I was expecting him to be top 10 in the scoring race by this point.
-Connor Murphy was a stud tonight. He picked up 2 goals off a hard slappers. He picked up an assist, too.
-Jordan Addesi picked up his first and second career OHL points. Both assists and I thought he was the best player on the ice all night. He almost had his first goal, but nailed it off the post. This game was just what he needed to get his confidence.
-Alexandre Renaud picked up his first career OHL goal tonight. Along with Hargrave and Addesi he was among Sarnia's best players tonight.
-Brett Hargrave is slowly starting to get a bigger role on Sarnia. He's been really good and got rewarded with a goal. He also was on the second unit PP and centred the third line. Hopefully this opens up the flood gates.
-Nick Ritchie was one of two players for Peterborough who actually played good, well about as good as someone would play on the losing end of a 6 goal deficit. He got a double minor for checking from behind. He also protected the puck so well and created a ton of chances. When the Petes had the Sting pinned in their zone for an extended period of time he was the driving force behind it. He's one of the best players for his draft year.
-Slater Koekkoek was the other player who thought played passable. He made some great passes and rushed the puck up the ice well. He made some solid decisions, especially in the offensive zone. I feel if he played for a better team he would be getting much, much more hype. He's really a fantastic player.

He played 15:54? That seems ridiculously low... how much ice-time do Strome, Sheifle, Monahan get? I'd expect at least 20 minutes for the teams top scorer - whats the deal?

It was a blowout early. No sense in overplaying him for nothing as it was also their 3rd game in 3 nights.

Doesn't really mean much but Gally now has a similar pts/game to what Yakupov had last season with the Sting.

They don't show 2 of his assists, boo.

Once more, he's basically in the middle of the ice every time we see him.

That backhand was disgusting.. No goalie in ANY league is saving that.

That quick little tip to himself to get through the defender was very Malkinesque!
And then of course his trademark: a wicked backhand shot that comes off his blade in a wink!

The way he can elevate the puck on his backhand, few NHL players can do this.
