Never knew PS3 turned itself on to patch. That's pretty slick.

Only does if you have PS+, it really should be standard though.

Doesn't PSN+ also have a monthly fee?

Yup, but that doesnt decrease its value at all to me and there's a lot of ways to get free trials and such. Like I said, that was my personal ranking.

The only time I tried PS+ was when it had the beta for DC Universe and I grew tired of that pretty quick.

The service seems to be worlds better now compared to what it was back then though.

I hardly play my PS3 and it doesn't offer much for Vita so its not worthwhile for me really.

Hell, even my Live account which I never would have thought of getting rid of is kind of a waste for me now. I play almost solely on my desktop and Vita these days.

You should probably check out the new PS+, it's on the Vita now, offers 6 free games at the time I last checked it (included Gravity Rush, Uncharted, Final Fantasy tactics War of the Lions, Jet set Radio, and more) and I put all the games in my cart and confirmed the purchase and I don't even own a Vita yet. That's the beautiful thing about PS+, all you have to do is add the games to your cart then confirm the 0 dollar purchase, then if you ever get a PS3 (or a Vita in my case) you can have a massive backlog of 30+ games for you to play.

I understand it's not worth it to some people though

You are welcome!

Anyways, on the topic of Steam, I absolutely love it and am scared of the holiday sales because my backlog is already full and it's university time soon. Although playing the FF14 Alpha on steam and having my friends yell at me is awesome fun.

While you'd still have to leave steam on overnight, you can designate which games you want steam to automatically update and which ones you'd update manually.

Yeah, Steam is second in additional things? Not a chance in hell. Stream workshop, green light, big picture, game hubs, groups, overlay, buying programs that are not games, free game weekends. The list goes on and on. Steam has way more value added content than PSN.

Not to mention most of the stuff you give PSN praise for a paid for content.

Again, I said games only for my definition. And it's also my opinion It's not like I said PS+ is a boatload better either, they are certainly close.

In what regard are they close? PS+ auto updates and gives out old free games.

For a fee.

Steam does the same and a hell of a lot more.

For free.

The BEST comparison is PSN to Steam. Since both services are free.

Not PS+ to Steam.

Just because it's your opinion doesn't mean you can't be factually wrong.

I've never seen Steam give out multiple games for free for more than a couple days. Yeah, free weekends are nice but a weekend is **** for me since one of the days I'd spend having to download the game on my crap connection.

I don't even have PSN+ but it's a great deal. Sure the AAA titles are older, but they are still free to play for as long as you have PSN+ (or you can let your subscription run out and then pay for PSN+ again later down the road and still have them). You can find subs for free sometimes too. I got a free 3-month subscription with Ratchet & Clank a few months back.

Steam is free to use, but you don't get the amount of content you get on PS3 for the extra money.

Either way, PSN+ and Steam are miles ahead of 360. The only thing 360 has over both is party chat but that's hardly a feature with PC gaming because there are alternatives. And hell, party chat does nothing for me now since 95% of the time I use Skype while playing games anyway.

So it's Steam's fault that you have a ****** internet connection?

Good show chap.

And yeah, you get to rent, RENT, key word is RENT, games from PS+ a PAID service versus Steam, a FREE service.

Compare the FREE games you get from PSN to the FREE games you get from Steam.

Don't get me wrong, I have PS+ and I enjoy it. I actually bought it the very first day it came out. Probably the first hour it did.

But comparing it to Steam is ridiculous because one is a PAID services and the other is a FREE service.

When Steam starts a PAID service then you can compare Steam's PAID service to PlayStation's PAID service.

First of all, don't get so freaking mad. It's just a discussion. But I can play that way too.

PSN+ was better because I DIDN'T PAY for PSN+. I had it for months FREE. Steam was also FREE but I only got games FREE for ONE WEEKEND not FOR MONTHS.

Boom.

And yes, internet connection does have something to do with what is more value for me. If I didn't have a PC or PS3 and only had a 360 then X-Box Live would win because it's what's accessible to me easiest.

I also work weekends, so Steam Free Weekends to me are absolutely useless.

Calm down man. I agree with you, but if someone uses their PS3 more, those free games make it a pretty hard to beat deal.

Not mad at all. Just busting Natey's chops.

Because I can.

If you value PS+ more, that's fine. There is nothing wrong with personally valuing one thing over another. But it's not fair to compare a PAID service to a FREE service. It's like comparing an apple to apple pie. Both were apples at one point but one is more refined and you paid more for it.

(and just because you got PS+ for free doesn't mean jack Natey, you still have to pay for it if you want to continue renting the games.)

Anyone see FarCry3 going on sale on the next steam sale?

I doubt it since its still #1 on their top sellers chart.

After lurking on the forum and reading what people had to say about it I'm going to pick it up for sure, would be nice to get a few bucks off though.

Between Toronto and Ottawa. 6mbps download. 0.5mbps upload.

Usually download games at about 600-750kbps.

Christmas sale? Nope.

Maybe a spring sale though.

Gmg had a 35% off coupon last week. Check if that's still around.
