Ah, well that'll make a big difference. The place where the pirates moor their boots in the bay is a good place for people that are looking to cry far three times.
imo, Steam is the best ....and then PSN would come in 2nd (simply because its free).
then there's microsoft, coming in third ...who i ****ing hate and would love to see crash and burn in a massive fireball. (if they were free, then Live would be an easy 2nd place, imo)
then i guess nintendo would be last, since their online system was pretty much useless from what i could tell.
Yeah, no. PSN and PS+ don't even come close to Steam. When I had PS+, it didn't offer all that much. The discounts and free games were nothing special.
And yeah, you get to rent, RENT, key word is RENT, games from PS+ a PAID service versus Steam, a FREE service.
I'm sorry to single this out, but there's one thing that really needs to be cleared up about Steam:
You are renting games from Steam as well. You do not own a single game you've purchased on Steam.
All you have to do is go back to the last time they updated their Terms of Service for proof of this. Steam added the arbitration clause to their TOS, and the people that refused to sign it were locked out of Steam accounts and could not access their games until they agreed to it.
The worst part of the entire thing is that if Steam went down, or shut down (as unlikely as it is) or updated their TOS to something impossible to accept, you'd have no legal recourse to access your game collection. You've already agreed that you cannot sue Valve, only take your case to their personal arbitrator.
This isn't a problem exclusive to Steam of course, Origin, PSN, Xbox Live and many more services all have this problem, and I'm sure customers will push back on these restrictive TOS agreements eventually, but the biggest problem with this digital age is the very real possibility of losing your collection in the future (in may not be for 20, 30, 50, 100 years, but it's bound to happen eventually).
And I say that as someone that LOVES Steam, uses it every day and buys stuff from it monthly. It's also why I do my best to actually own a physical copy of most games I truly care about.
Edit: EU lawmakers are already trying to combat this, and Steam has entered hot water there already..I hope NA lawmakers follow suit.
This whole thing is why something like Good Old Games can be very very valuable.
well you can burn/backup your Steam games to optical media or an external drive, etc. ...and i remember Gabe said that if they ever went out of business that they'd make sure that you could play all your games offline, etc.
and Valve/Steam going bankrupt is extremely unlikely at this point.
and also when it comes to the world of pc gaming, there's always torrents, private ftp sites, irc, etc, etc, ...cracks, etc. emulation programs. there's always a way to play what you own ...or, even what you don't own.

I don't know about anyone else's laws, but in Scots law if you change terms of a contract online all the time, or to something ridiculous it's not enforceable. Because its ridiculous to expect people to take the hours to read these novella sized documents which get changed by a few words each time every few weeks. I don't know if it's been challenged in modern times, but the precedents were set a hundred years ago.
Might get the second one for Spec Ops. Already have both Bioshocks like everyone else probably does, but I've been wanting to play SpecOps and $10 seems good.

Sounds good. I think I saw it for $7.49 before and didn't jump on it because I have such a backlog. But next time it drops I'll jump on it and just force myself to play it after I clear up some other games.
Hopefully Sleeping Dogs has a similar $10 or under price drop in the near future.

Making out like a bandit on Steamgifts. Best part is only a few of the games are playable!
I'd have to look at my profile to see how many I've won but IIRC, it's:
Death Rally
Krater
Sol Survivor
Dota 2
And I want to say one more but I can't think of it right now. I remember I did win like 2-3 games in the span of 1 week and in 2 months before that I only won 1 game.

IMO, the game is worth the $50. Feels a lot more dynamic than most open world games.
I bought the **** out of that. I don't even know if any of those are decent games, but I sort of wanted to play Warhammer, so that's a win. Thanks for posting!
