IMO Franchise guys are the guys you can build a contender around. Obviously Lebron/Durant/Kobe are those guys but it also includes guys like Howard, Rose, Rondo, Griffin, Love...

The reason we suck is because we look to guys like Bargnani or Derozan to be the franchise leaders when they wouldn't be that on any other team.
Not disagreeing, but you're still describing top-10/top-15 players in the league...and unfortunately a handful of teams have a stranglehold on those guys. In ESPN's top 30 player rankings, only 18 teams were represented (and only 16 before the Harden and Iguodala trades). That means there almost half the league is building around players that don't quite fit your description.

I'm not using that as an excuse, I'm just saying we aren't the only ones in this predicament.

They dont have a single big who can really shoot all that well (Gasol, Howard, Hill). Dantoni loves players who chuck and have range so I see Bargnani as actually a guy who he would love on his roster. Would make a excellant 6th man on a good team.

Its really not the call thats being highlighted its the embaressing dance Crawford does after which is totally unnecessary and shows he wants to be in the spotlight.

Don't they have Jamison? He can hit the mid-range and sometimes the threes down.. I don't think they trade Gasol just for a 7 foot big man who can shoot threes with that big of a contract.

Another thing, people are saying Casey is playing Andrea a lot because they are showcasing him for a trade.

I think D'antoni would really like a player like Bargnani. He loves having a big man that can stretch the floor and more importantly can draw his defender away from the rim. If the plan is to run a bunch of pick and rolls with Nash and Dwight, you want to have space in the lane. Bargnani will draw opposing PF's away from the paint.

Is it just me or is there no fire in this team? Bargs is playing like he wants to be traded. The rest of the team look lethargic and unorganized. Is it coaching?

The guys have played with intensity several times throughout the season so far, especially in the close games, but I imagine they are getting pretty damn sick of losing those close games. It's hard to keep that fire when you feel like you're never going to catch a break. This is one reason I think it's important to get the young guys in the lineup as much as possible since they usually bring a lot of energy since they want to prove something. They will hopefully fire up the squad and hopefully push guys like Bargs to bring more effort.

I'm pretty damn concerned about the defense though. I was hoping we'd see some progress by now.

Started well, but now we are rushing things on offense and not finding good shots. Slow the **** down.

this is the team i've been waiting for. no bargs, no jose in the starting lineup, a good PG, good defensive C, a quality SG that can create his own shot as well as finishing at the hoop and just role players around them.

Ross is freakishly athletic. He is so quick out there. If he gets used to the NBA 3-point line, he will be a good player.
