Not to be too negative... but the Raps' 1st (Lowry deal IIRC) is protected, right? I honestly can't remember how that went down...

What if they also got a first in a package for a certain 7' "shooting guard"? Could they potentially make two first-round selections next summer? And if so, does the 2013 draft class make that a legitimate strategy?

Don't get me wrong, I have a lot of faith in Coach Casey, I'm just not sure they have the horses to dig themselves out of the hole the unfortunate schedule has created. I could easily see Bargnani and Calderon both getting moved by mid-season at this rate.

Report: Raptors consider signing Pietrus

Quote:
The Toronto Raptors were on the verge of trading a second-round pick to the Phoenix Suns for Mickael Pietrus in December of last year.

It turned out that Pietrus had a knee injury when working out with the Raptors. Toronto decided to cancel the deal, opting to sign Rasual Butler and Aaron Gray.

According to ESPN’s Marc Stein, the Raptors have renewed interest for the 30-year-old free agent.

Top-3 protected this season.

Receives Toronto’s first-round pick (top-3 and 15-13 protected in 2013, top-2 and 15-30 protected in 2014-15, top-1 and 15-30 protected in 2016-2017, unprotected in 2018) via Kyle Lowry trade on 7/11/12.

The Raps 1st this season is protected at the 1-3 positions post draft.

If we get a 1st for a 7 foot piece of garbage, if our original selection is top-3, then yeah we could package and move up.

Truth be told, I'd rather give Oklahoma the pick this year, and next year assemble as many picks as we can and ensure we get Wiggins.

We're approaching a quarter of the season and Its hard to see if this team can win more than 25 games.

Just ugly, they should beat Phoenix on Friday who just lost by 40 to the Pistons but this Raps team is in freefall. Michael Grange is still holding the rope on this group though.

Edit: I thought the Raptors were the worst team in the NBA, but it seems like the Wizards are. Aren't they supposed to be better with John Wall?

Hopefully once J Wall comes back they can win some games and push the Raptors down. We need all the help we can get with the lottery this year and landing in the top 3. If we can get Shabazz our roster would look absolutely nasty next year. Even with Andrea.

If we get Shabazz I'm assuming we would switch Demar to SF?

Lowry
Shabazz
Demar
Davis
Val

Can Shabazz play SF too?

i wonder if we end up getting a top 3 pick and shabazz isn't available if okc would be willing to trade our future 1st pick and jeremy lamb for the 2013 pick. that would work well for us to dump guys like andrea and amir in the off season for more 2014 picks.

i believe he plays SF in college. he is slightly shorter than DD but has weight on him, his wing span is 6'11 while DD is 6'9. i would start him at SF if we ever cross that bridge.
