I think the Wings would be better served using assets to get a defenseman. Nyquist will likely get his shot on the top-6, and adding more forwards is the least of their concerns.
Detriot would not trade what it would take to get Perron, no doubt if we were to trade him to them he would become a 40 per yr goal scorer and kill us everytime.
Would not happen. I do think quite a bit of Perron as a player, but these teams don't have a reasonable deal to make that happen. If they would even consider trading with each other.
I imagine the Wings will just roll with Franzen, Filppula, Nyquist and Brunner? Not the best set of top six wingers, but it should do until more of their prospects mature. Plus Datsyuk and Zetterberg as the centres should more than make up for the wingers.
It would take realignment and Detroit to be in the East, then add from there.
Even if Detroit were in another conference, I think there's basically no foundation available for a trade. Detroit has no assets it can give up that would help the Blues over the next couple of years. They have prospects to give up and that's basically it. Only if the Wings really went into a tailspin and decided to deal significant players for futures would it make any sense, and while they'll suffer from losing Lidstrom, they won't be so bad that they'll dismantle the team.

Pretty much this.
Dats, Z, Flip and Mule are pretty much locks for top6. The remaining two spots are up to battle between Nyquist, Brunner, Cleary, Samuelsson and possibly but not likely, Tatar.
Perron is great, but St. Louis would be very unlikely to trade him to Detroit for anything less than a solid overpayment. Why trade a great top6er to a division rival? Wings already have so many forwards as it is, too. This makes no sense.
Only way I'd move Perron that wasn't for an upgrade at LW would be if Schwartz was older and McDonald was younger. If a team, besides a rival, can figure out how to do that, then we can talk.

So basically this trade is as pointless for STL as it is for Detroit.

Pretty much. The fact that Detroit is a rival is irrelevant. This has got to be one of the few times that a thread between the Blues and Wings won't devolve into flaming and dumb arguments because both sides just shake their heads and move on.

C'mon can't we work something out here. Grachev for Mursak?

I dunno. The multiple suggestions that Detroit give up Kronwall might start something.

Trust me those aren't realistic. Kronwall is just the only player that fills a need and they just said it to prove how unlikely a trade would be. Well Datsyuk would also fill a need.
Where does this thread come from? The Blues seem fine with Perron and there's no reason for STL to trade one of their better players to a division rival for no reason stated. Pulling at straws now are we? There should be an unsaid reason that trade proposals should come from respective fans of the particular player's team offered.
I would love to have Perron as a Wing but even if they weren't rivals with St. Louis it wouldn't happen. Detroit's good players are mostly older and won't be traded. Our good players that are young don't have much nhl experience yet. We don't have much in the middle and I think that's what St. Louis would want.
