Iginla in a Canucks jersey would make me sick.

Oh, and 3-way trade between the Alberta teams and Vancouver. Yeah, not really...based in reality.

Niether of them are slumping.

Ovechkin's numbers crashed when he was forced to play under a tighter defense first sytem.

Can't blame Luongo if his team can't score goals in the playoffs.

Losing Horcoff actually hurts the team, not helps. Just wanted to clear that up. He is a good 3c.

Where will this magical 3rd line center come from?

Horcoff gives the better players the advantage of not having to play shut down minutes.

His contract is moot because they wont need the cap space till 4 years down the road.

He doesnt have any value to other teams but is still needed to a degree in Edmonton
Belanger and Lander or VandeVelde more than make up for what Horcoff brings at this point. Losing Horcoff would not hurt us much at all.

As far as this deal goes Edmonton takes on over 13 million in salary. Why? I like Luongo and Kassian but not at the expense of Eberle but I wouldn't touch Bowmeester with a 10 foot pole.

What about Luongo for Kiprusoff ?

Vancouver get a goalie who can carry them in the playoff.

Calgary get a goalie who can help them make the playoff.

Maybe, although I guarantee we would never hear the end of Flame fans telling us we only won a cup - assuming we did - because they helped us.

Luongo, Kassian, Malhotra and Ballard

Iginla, Bouwmeester, Nemisz

Eberle, Horcoff, Musil
-------

That is what each team is giving up. I dunno, have a funny feeling Edmonton fans are going to get out the pitch forks.
I think Vancouver would beat us to the punch. Eberle right now is our best pure scorer and is only getting better

VAN
Luongo, Kassian, Malhotra and Ballard <---> Jarome Iginla, Shawn Horcoff, Greg Nemisz
Top line RW is their need, get a good 3rd liner and a prospect. Give away Luongo with needing to, and only give a not-yet-had-break-out-season prospect and two kinda worthless players.
CGY
Iginla, Bouwmeester, Nemisz <---> Jordan Eberle, Keith Ballard, Manny Malhotra, David Musil
Easy Deal for CGY, but why add in Ballard?
EDM
Eberle, Horcoff, Musil <---> Jay Bouwmeester, Roberto Luongo, Zack Kassian
Maybe good value for EDM if they were actually competing, but hell no to 2 30+ players+prospect.

i think with the Oilers losing Eberle, but gaining JayBo and Luongo, the Flames and Canucks both make out like bandits.

Ballard and Malhotra purely for cap reasons. Horcoff was to sweeten the deal for Edmonton and to add add a gritty, third line center for Van(an upgrade in skill, with a bad contract)

So EDM clears Horcoff...but then we have to take on TWO big deals? Not to mention trade one of the fab four?

Epic pass from us.

I need someone to post the picture of Jerry Seinfeld getting up from his chair.

I think this is a great deal for all teams. This trade moves Edmonton from the bottom, to a playoff spot, Vancouver gets a perfect RW for Sedin 2x and Calgary gets good prospects.

Luongo doesn't even need to bounce back...he's a stellar goalie and was last year.

I don't know where the idea that Luongo didn't play well last year comes from. He had a 0.923 save% discounting the first month which was bad since the team basically skipped the pre-season (http://m.theglobeandmail.com/sports/...service=mobile)

A 0.923 save% would be considered outstanding for any goalie yet somehow its a good goalie having a bad year for Luongo?

No, he shouldn't but if this was real life, Iggy won a cup and we got Eberle, he definitely could
