This seems like a fair appraisal given the factors involved on how much any individual can do in his sport.

Of course with the newer generation and the Nike "2nd place is the 1st loser" mentality it might be that winning a championship is over emphasized in all 4 major sports.

Baseball is really weird in that a team like the Braves can win multiple regular season championships but in a 7 game series a team having 2 stud SP could outdo them. I'm not sure if any of the other sports ahve this regular season and playoff imbalance except maybe football where it is only 1 game instead of a 7 game series.

Right. To be fair, everyone seemed to pick the Tigers this year for the World Series with a lot of that weighing into Justin Verlander pitching for Game 1 and 5. They never got to a 5th game. Just shows you even having an ace of a starting pitcher isn't a guarantee. Verlander was bad in Game 1. Roger Clemens too had his fair share of blown opportunities in playoff games.
