Wish List of Active Players

Which active player would you really like to see in a Kings' jersey?

Now before even starts to say Brodeur, Luongo, etc. think about players that would fit well in the system, fill a need, etc. Not that the aforementioned players wouldn't but please try to be reasonable (i.e. don't just name the best players in the league - I'm sure we would all want them).

For me, it's Chris Drury. I think he would fit great in AM's system. Pretty reliable center. Not a huge point producer, but a hardworker, clutch scorer, and versatile guy. Good playoff experience, pretty young, not overly expensive.

A large, defensively sound, 2nd line center with offensive upside, ala Handzus, Vasicek, or former King (!) Radek Bonk. We have Conroy for this role, but obviously we will need a younger, healthier, bigger body for this role within three seasons.

A center with great vision and passing who can help accelerate the development of our young offensive wingers, ala Datsyuk (will never happen), Gomez, or a vet like Turgeon (yes, I said Turgeon) or Zhamnov, who's roster space would be temporary until a better option is available.

A two-way winger with great speed and penalty killing experience, ala Laaksonen, Brylin, Bulis or Sundstrom.

I wouldn't mind one of those guys but we'd need to deal Belanger to simply have room for one of them.

Ones that may be had; Sanderson, O'neil, Rucchin, Arkipov(sp) Preds, Zednik
Ones I'd like; Hartnell, Cole, Alfredsson, Doan, Elias
D; Morris, Hamrik, Aucoin, Jovo, hannan, chara, niedermayer, not to mention about 6 top prospects.
Ahh, there are a lot of players and too many come to mind. There are better ones than on this list.

Please forgive my ignorance if I'm wrong, but I've been under the impression that Drury's best NHL days were as a winger, and that his numbers and overall play has dropped significantly since he left Colorado and assumed a full time center position.

Either way I'd love to have him, but I'd prefer a much larger center if we'd have to move good assets.

A big, phisical forward with good scoring touch and a bit of experience: Jeff O'Neill suits our needs.

I'd love to see him in a Kings jersey.

Others: Ryan Smyth, Fredrik Modin

I'd like O'neil also, think he can be had for a Corvo and 3rd

Corvo and a 3rd won't be enough.
I guess the Canes will ask for one of our prospects (Tambs or Tukonen maybe) and a pick, probably a 3rd. They don't need Corvo...oh well, we neither!

Thorton if I could choose anybody. I would settle for a Handzus.
Realistically, I would like to see Zhamnov. He could help Frolov become the star he should become and he would help fill the top two centers with Conroy. Plus he is a distributor someone who makes his linemates better. Only a stopgap one or two year solution but I think he would be a good fit.

.
niedermayer-I think he's scheduled to be a ufa July 2005.He rejected the Devils offer which would have paid $7m a yr.

Arkipov-from what Pred fans are posting,it sounds like he's running out of chances with the organziation. He may need a change of scenery.

Hamrik-beatwriters says he was looking for $4m a yr.Sounds like the isles want him to take a paycut from his $3.6m salary and he's scheduled to be a ufa July 2005.

Aucoin-Press said he was unhappy with his $4.25m arbitration award, wanted $5m.Isles offered him 4 yrs/$14m which would have averaged out to $3.5m.

niedermayer,Aucoin,Hamrlik..they're all gambilng that the league either won't get a cap or will have a luxury tax.

I'd like to see a #1 dman too. I'd prefer Aucoin over Hamrlik. The guy eats up an insane amount of minutes. Plus that booming right handed shot from the point. Every team in the league would love to have Niedermayer.
