It's a curse from the Thrashers days. The curse of Curt Fraser.

Forget about the past and blame Chevy for not re-signing Glass?

I kinda blame the system on this one, I always felt like we were too passive last year.

To be honest I think our individual ability on the pk is above average. There are lots of small items that need to be tweaked. We use a 1+3 pk system. Unfortunately the only good forechecker we have is burmi. Glass and Ladd were used heavily last year but they never seemed to angle properly. Antropov is good at angling but he's too slow. Personally I think if we continue with the 1+3 burmi needs to be on the first unit as the forechecker. After their shift is finished since we dont seem to have another good forechecker I would change up to a two forechecking system for the first breakout at least. Maybe poni is a good forechecker?

Another serious problem is we do not pressure the puck carrier in our zone properly. What needs to happen is one player properly angles one passing lane away while moving towards the player with the puck. While this happens another player angles and takes away the second passing lane. Now the puck carrier either dumps it or makes a dumb move. Classic pressure play. The jets have never done this. I haven't seen it.

Instead our guys just move towards the puck carrier "square" leaving two passing lanes open.

Another issue that applies to all situations is two things with pavelec. First is his.complete lack of.puck moving ability. Our d needs to be better with this, and I would love for pavelec to improve. Second is when he moves far out of the net to one side. Teams have noticed this.and have had success sneaking in on the weak side (stamkos 60th goal anyone). Either pavelec needs to move further back in net or our d needs to cover the weak side better. Too many times I've seen it wide open. I'd like both to happen.

You fix the above four problems and I promise we have a top 10 pk.
