Japanese man, confirmed by Guiness Book of Records as the oldest to live "in history", has died of natural causes.

Pretty amazing how so many people are becoming centenarians these days and how the numbers are expected to explode. Some say that Japan alone could have as many as 1M people over the age of 100 by 2050!!

That's like 40 years of aching joints and being decrepit thinking you can die any day. I wouldn't want any part of that.

NY Times has this lady dying at 122.

What I would've liked to have known is how this person felt about the worldly changes. From seeing earliest cars and listening to the radio to smart phones and 3D TVs. Seeing a planet go to war and landing on the moon. Its one thing to read about it, but to experience it?

Especially in Japan. Feudal customs and traditions weren't long gone/were still going when he was born.
