Blake Geoffrion Crunched by Jp Cote, Suffers Fractured Skull

Syracuse Crunch Jean-Philippe Cote with a big clean hit on Blake Geoffrion from the Hamilton Bulldogs. The reason Geoffrion was bleeding is he was cut by Cote's skate on the play.

Cote's skates were never really very high off the ice but Geoffrion came down head first. Ugly outcome, but still a huge hit.

Huge hit. Wish players would stop retaliating afterwards though.

Update on Blake Geoffrion: Surgery for depressed skull fracture. Remains in stable condition in ICU. Out indefinitely. Expect full recovery.

Swift recovery Blake.

So if Giroux took a hit like that with the same outcome you'd be fine if no one did anything? I'm glad you aren't his linemate.

Saw this on sportscentre (or was it hockey central?) last night, absolute monster of a hit. Really unlucky to catch a skate in the face after, hopefully Geoffrion is OK, seems like a pretty serious injury.

Seems like he was really skating with his head down there. Strange too, since Geoffrion did something at the end of the last game that irked the Crunch.

Saw it in passing a couple of nights ago on CH news but wasn't really paying full attention. Looked on youtube for Nov 7th game highlites but only found one video that didn't show it.

..... apparently Cote remembers it better than I do. LOL

It was a clean hit. Hitting is part of the game. Why should the guy need to protect himself and fight for doing something that is completely legal? It's not like he drove the guy from behind head first into the boards.

Great hit by the way. Hope he recovers fully.

Sucks that Blake got hurt, and hope he recovers quick, but my god what a hit. Absolutely hammered him.

Nobody is going to fight you for a normal, "separate your man from the puck" hit. However, if you go out of your way to take a massive, dangerous run at someone, expect to fight, even if it's not illegal. Refs enforce based on the rulebook, players enforce based on the code. I think sometimes players fight over hits that they should just let go, but this one was huge, you have to stand up for your team mate here.

LOL, seriously....... Cote is gliding backwards..... there is plenty of contact with Geoffrion before he hits the boards and then comes off the ice.

Seriously hope I've miss-interpreted a sarcastic comment here.

I'm sure Geoffrion will be giving Blunden a HUGE pat on the back for sticking up for him.

Um....you are also forgetting the fact that HE SKATED OFF THE ICE WITH A CAVED IN SKULL!!!!!!!!!! Jesus.

Also, 3rd generation of Geoffrion/Morentz to spill their blood in Montreal.

Oh wow, that's right. Morenz had a broken leg that caused his death, Geoffrion suffered a gastrointestinal hemorrage or something in an accident during practice and came very close to death and now his grandson suffers a skull fracture. I wouldn't want to play a game in Montreal if I were Blake's kid and I made the AHL/NHL. Let's hope for a speedy recovery!

Howie: Broken leg during a game, died.
Bernie: Training Accident where he was told to quit the game...came back 6 weeks later
Dan: Nothing of note.
Blake: Skull fracture.

If I was Blake's brothers playing at UAH I would decline a camp invite to Montreal.

I sincerely hope you're just being a bad troll. He clearly glides into him and never leaves the ice making the hit. He obviously left the ice after the impact of the hit.

Are people really this bad at judging things?
