Zach bogosian

Just for fun because I'm bored during the lockout, what would other teams pay for the 22 year old former third overall pick?

Last year he had 30 points in 65 games while averaging over 23 minutes a game

Zach's a whipping boy on HF so this won't go well.

He was also 25th in even strength points last year, despite only playing 65 games. The only player to play less games and be in the top 25 of even strength points is Letang.

He also had a higher SH TOI/G than PP TOI/G as he was used in a more defensive role. And as Flying High mentioned, ranking 34th in TOI/G at 23:18.

Guy's not going anywhere.

He's out for 4 months. If anything my offer was an overpayment.

Because I am bored I would do Doughty + for him and Kane. Not sure I would be willing to give what the + would take though.

This is quite ridiculous.

And? Is Voracek worth nothing right now? Because as far as I know he's injured ATM (haven't seen any updates on that) and I'd still hope if the Flyers were going to trade him tomorrow they'd get something of worth back for him.

Simmonds and Read don't have near the value that some people want to say they have. I love both of them, but they aren't going to bring back a top pairing d-man for the Flyers. If they were, one of them would be gone already.

If Bogosian's head ever catches up to his body he will become a force. But even if it doesn't, I still see him becoming a Jovanoski-type Dman. I think he'd get a decent return but the Jets are better off keeping him.

I have a huge man crush on Simmonds from his LA days, so to me him plus a 1st would be somehting really good. Too bad the flyers don't have someone else's first with a godo chance of being a top ten cause then I think it would be good value.

I never said they would bring back a top pairing defenseman. I said simmonds+ a 1st would bring back an injured top pairing defenseman. But it'd never happen anyway. It's irrelevant, but Voracek is skating again, likely practicing this week.

I would pay alot. Bogosian is awesome. Now that he's no longer in Atlanta he's getting alot more exposure. People are seeing how good he is. The time to trade for him at a discount has passed which is unfortunate (unless you're a jets fan). Excellent player.

edit- For conversation's sake, I'd consider something around Bogosian for Yakupov. I'd probably decline as I want to see just how good Yak is in the NHL but it doesn't seem unreasonable.

Just because Bogosian is injured, it doesn't mean his value is that low. It might not be at an all time high, but there's no way that the Jets would trade him for Read/Simmonds and a 1st.

Bogosian is 22 years old. He has top pairing upside. He's worth a lot, regardless of injury.

At worst he will be a multi-tooled #2 DMan, at best he will be in the top group of young DMen with Piet, Karlsson and Doughty. He definitely has the ability if his head really gets to a high level rather than just being average.

Definitely, definitely. A young player with tremendous upside loses value because of an easily curable injury, just because he's out for 4 months. Brilliance.

It's tounge in cheek. The point is it'd be stupid to trade Bogosian when he's out for an extended time.

You forgot to add during a lockout. Come Dec 1 he will already have 3 months of recovery time. If anyone ventures by the the Jet's boards Bogo is easily the # 1 fan favorite ahead of Kane, Buff and Enstrom. Watching him start to breakout last year (with a chronic wrist injury that has bothered him for years and is now corrected) I have no doubt in a couple years he will be discussed among the best of the d-man class of 2008.

Agree with everyone saying to just keep him. There just won't be enough value going back.

Prior to the draft, Bogosian struck me as similar to Eric Brewer. All the tools, questionable toolbox.

Is this a fair assessment of Bogosian so far? I don't get to see many Thrashers/Jets games, so I don't have an accurate read on him. Can he play the left side?

He picked up a new toolbox last year - I think Huddy helped him select it.

Seriously: he made great strides in his game last year, and is showed the promise that a high draft pick D-man should. I wouldn't trade him unless it were a serious overpayment, which rarely happens.
