"Is Flyers' Snider helping thaw NHL talks?"

Philadelphia's owner, Snider, may look to spear head a movement to potentially override Bettman in labor negotiations. Snider, along with many other owners, was not opposed to the lockout, but with December fast approaching, and no clear end in sight, owners are starting to realize that the deal won't get much sweeter from here on out.

It's the big market teams like Philly that should have the power in this.

Keep in mind that the Flyers are the team who provides the NHL with their contract. As NBC is also the Comcast umbrella, the Flyers are the voice of the entity that stands to lose the most during the lockout. NBC is still paying the NHL for this season, but sponsors are not.

Gotta think the Predators want this thing over.. They paid weber $13m and will pay him another $13m in July whether there's hockey games or not..

They're in a tough situation because they need a better CBA to help them but they also need money to pay Weber's huge deal. Minnesota is also in a similar situation. They've already had 2 cash-calls over the signing bonuses for Parise and Suter.

Business board topic.

We'll be starting up a general rant/rave thread on the lockout for the NHL Talk forum shortly.
