Lower revenues means all the bottom feeder teams will have to find new homes. Quebec, Toronto, and maybe Hamilton will all have a better chance at at getting teams. Get rid of the other teams no one cares about and create a stronger, better league.
One thing I never got was why doesn't an owner like the guy who owns the panthers move to a place like QC and make monies while these better markets are still available.

Massive relocation fees might make it not worth their while. No guarantee a team succeeds there, either.
I have a wild conspiracy theory that the true purpose of this lockout is to accomplish what you're suggesting... but I just keep things like that to myself.
Maybe the government should just give every unemployed person a job then. That would solve the problem, right?
I am one person who is without my job with no hockey at SBP. I have another job obviously, but it sure would help. With that said, that was a pretty ignorant comment on you're part.
I like how the OP mentions 3 Canadian cities over Seattle, which ive read from a couple "experts" that they are the front runner since the arena has been approved and construction will start once we get an NBA team.

It wasn't meant as a personal attack. My initial comment was focusing just on Hockey and how to better it. Jakob Silfverberg tried to turn my comment into something it was not.
It's unfortunate people have lost jobs but it is what it is. No job in the world is guaranteed but when hockey does come back so will your job, right?
Now, I think like many people do that contraction would make the league better but before that relocate at least 3 teams back to Canada. The league would only benefit from it. People would lose their jobs but that's no ones fault except for Gary putting teams where they shouldn't be. blame him.

You basically shot yourself in the foot there. When Seattle gets an NBA team? Meaning The NHL would be behind the NFL, MLB, NBA, and be competing with MLS for revenue streams. It's not like Seattle is in desperate need of an NHL team because fans are demanding it, the owners of the Stadium would like another tenant to generate profits on the NBA's off nights. Big difference.
Hockey would be the number 1 draw in Hamilton, Quebec city, and a close second in toronto. There is no comparison when it comes to the 4 cities in question.
Can Seattle support and NHL team, of course, but are they going to have the revenue streams other Canadian team would have, no.

The Panthers make mad money off all the property they own around the arena and what not. No tenant in the rink, no revenue coming in from the other sources which rely on a team there filling the building.

What I'm confused I though like maybe 3000 people a game. So how is this getting more money to things around this place?

Thanks I'll read through that. Makes sense though as they are still in Florida.
Up here it's rumored that the panthers have trouble giving tickets away let alone having more than a couple thousand fans pay to get it in. Sounds really ignorant especially from a hockey enthusiast but that's what the word is up here.

The Panthers owners also own a ton of real estate (shopping centres) around the BB&T (formerly BankAtlantic) Center. Make a ton of money off those properties that kind of subsidize the costs of the team.
