1. Chris Chelios, 2. Scott Niedermayer, 3. Rob Blake, 4. Rod Brind'Amour, 5. Keith Tkachuk, 6. Paul Kariya and 7. Owen Nolan headline the list of first year eligible candidates.
8. Brendan Shanahan and 9. Eric Lindros headlining the list of carry-overs, with 10. Dave Andreychuk, 11. Jeremy Roenick, 12. Theoren Fleury, 13. Markus Naslund, 14. Curtis Joseph, 15. Tom Barrasso, 16. Phil Housley, 17. Mike Vernon, 18. John LeClair, 19. Sergei Makarov and 20. Guy Carbonneau also waiting.
Do you want us to limit it to four candidates as the real HHOF uses, or vote everyone we think should get in eventually? Also, can you give a link for where you got the quote?
Vote everyone you think should get in eventually. Adding link now, my friend. Done.
I guess that was kinda misleading. By the "top-3" I meant the first three in the poll Of course, Chelios, I'd be hanged, drawn and quartered if I didn't include him...
Only 7 people voted for LeClair? Guy was one of the best Americans to play the game, led the league in LW goal scoring between the 95/96 season and 2000 (then got injured). Anyways I would vote for all those guys except Andreychuk, Vernon, Barrasso, maybe Brind'Amour and I don't know Makarov well enough though I dont' have an issue if any of those guys get in. You forgot Alexander Mogilny.

If only they had some sort of US Hockey Hall of Fame to reward great Americans...maybe one day...
Mogilny would have gotten if every year he played was a contract year...it's those multi-year deals that really set him back...

Exhibit A as to how hockey doesn't matter on ESPN:
Last night an ESPN program was discussing how the Detroit Pistons needed a hero citing the heroes on the Detroit Tigers, Detroit Lions and no mention of the Detroit Red Wings. All this despite the Red Wings probably being the most succesful team in Detroit right now.
I voted for six guys, and they are on top, by far. There is a big gap from Blake (26) to Fleury and Carbs (14).
Easy to tell who those 6 are...IMO Kariya has a pretty strong case. Why not include him?...Not saying he's as easy a choice as the other 6, but IMO he is clear HHOF caliber in the sense that there was a good stretch where he was among the best of the best in the league. Is there a forward like that who's not in the HHOF? Also, throw him some bonus points for his Asian heritage and Lady Byngs.
I voted for 5 guys that I think are locks, all 5 are top 5 in voting. Other guys that are borderline need more thought and the backlog with 4 per year is going to cause problems in the future IMO.

Kariya would be my next choice. but he's just not quite there.
