I just finished browsing through the best goal thread, and thought I'd start up a thread about the best saves. Pardon me if it's been done a bunch lately, but I'm not exactly a regular on this forum of HF.

If you had a video of it, that would be awesome!

The Brodeur save on Brett Hull in the 2000 SCF was great. Here is a video of it(though in rather poor quality):

the stick save that Giguere pulled on Minnesota was slick
also the behind the back kick that Pasi Nurminen did was awesome
and the behind the back catch that I think Theodore pulled off was cool

I'm going with the Hasek blocker save. There are several Hasek saves worthy of this though.

The Pasi Nurminen save against Toronto this season. When he was lying on his stomach and stuck his leg up to save the shot.

Kirk Mclean save on Calgary Flames guy (cant remember who) in OT GAME 7, 1994 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Amazing save. Don Cherry i believe even thought it was the best save he had ever seen.

Patrick Roy stopping Wayne Gretzky on a breakaway in the opening minute of game two of the 1994 Stanley Cup Finals. That was the turning point of the series and really shifted it in Montreal's favor after losing the first game. Gretzky's Kings were heart-broken.

Personally, the atmosphere and situation that the save comes in is more important than the actual puck-stopping.

that giguere save on Mike Modano was pretty freaking awesome but not as good as his one against Gaborik.

I would have to say that McLean save was the most clutch save ever. I hate to say it but the Richter save vs NJ in 94, semi finals, game 7, double overtime was the mst painfull save ever.

I will always remember that Théodore's save on Bill Guerin in the playoffs, when he catched it behing the net. There's also these amazings saves by Giguère in last year's playoffs...

This past year the Avs vs. the wings and Roy made a triple save vs. Larionov and two other wings. the last two i think were with his stick when he was on his back. the wings players coulda raised it but they didnt. Roy absolutley ROBBED them. I thought Mike Haynes was gonig to have a heart attack.

if anyone wants the sound clip. i can email it them.

best in Canucks history would be the McLean save against Calgary, triple OT in game 7.

http://ihatetheleafs.com/VIDEO/video...E_THE_GOAL.WMV

that clip has many replays and the amazing goal Bure scored to win it

01-02 first round, boston vs. montreal, game six (i think...), nine or so minutes left, jose theodore on bill guerin, behind his back, pretty much throwing the stick.

truly ridiculous. i thought beantown could maybe, maybe do it that year...

You ca never have a thread where you have "most underated" "fastest player" " hardest hitting". It always ends up being...."On My Favorite Team so and so is the....."

It pisses me off.

I'm not a Flyer fan, so no homering here, and I pick the same one. Boucher, sans helmet, was awesome. There are also several saves by Ken Dryden that come to mind as well, but there is no way I can dig up video of them to prove how great they were.

Thats the way things are. Gonna have to live with it. No matter what someone says they are always going to like *their* team more then any other. There are different degrees, but for the most part everyone on this board is a homer, no mater how you cut it.

all dallas fans are gonna say Lethinen is the best defensive forward. and Islander fans will say peca is.

Avs fans will says Forsberg is the best in the world. and canuck fans will say naslund is.

Now for my pick of best save...It wasnt the best save ive ever seen but it definetly is top 10.

Robert Reichel was the guy

Also Giguere's saves on Modano and Gaborik this past playoffs were pretty darn decent.

Funniest 'save' would have to be Roy's showboating vs. Detroit when he dropped the puck

More than one save, but Richter at the end of Game 7 in the 1994 Stanley Cup finals. He was on a roll then.
