Pavelski vs Callahan

Who's the better player right now? Battle of 2 tough undersized players.

Both are good offensive players that do other things, manly things.

Pavelski is better at the offense half and Callahan is better at the "other things" half.

I'll say Pavelski but it's close.

Callahan has no chance here though. Pavelski scores more, has more of a reputation, and plays center. These days you see a whole lot of Callahan in polls he's never gonna win.

That's what happens when you're in that space in between a nice little player and a real star. You either dominate polls or you have no chance. Callahan is a real estate mogul in that place.

This isn't close at all.

Pavelski has better CORSI stats in pretty much every way, starts the same amount of the time in the offense zone, and the better point production when compared to Callahan.

The only thing Callahan has on Pavelski is physicality.

Pavelski AINEC. Better offensively, better defensively, plays center and isn't injury prone.

I agree with the latter part of this. I don't think it's as close as you do, though. I feel that Pavelski is just a wee notch below the upper crust of 2-way forwards (Bergeron, Backes, etc), while Callahan is another notch below him. I'd be comfortable having a team wherein Pavelski was the core player for one of my two top lines, but I can't say the same for Callahan.

Let me put it this way, it's closer than the poll will indicate. This will end up being like 83-15 or something obscene like that. It's not that bad.

It's a clear advantage for Pavelski, so everyone's gonna pick him and it's gonna end up looking like Gretzky vs a junior player.

Plus he does play center, like I said. Without even adding the talent gap the center is going to win on HF 11 times out of 10.

Actually, he plays winger now, with Thornton and Marleau. He played wing because of the Setoguchi and Heatley trades.

That being said, Pavelski, but it's actually closer than most people think.
