You can't (legally) import pitbulls to Ontario.

On a non-trade related note. Who do people want/expect to be manager come spring?

I guess unless someone reports them, they won't be bothered by anyone.

Man this is a reallllly risky trade, I keep going back and forth on it

Just wanted to add that you guys are going to love Boni, he could easily lead the league in swipes

about buehrle, flipping him etc..

guy is a hell of a pitcher. He might not throw the hardest but man he's really crafty. Works the fastest in the league, one of the best defensively and really shuts down the running game.

I agree that trading him before he even pitched for us would be dumb, I am just saying I can see where he is coming from regarding his rumored wishes not to play for Toronto this upcoming season...

pretty much everyone we acquired has at least one serious flaw w/ them.

That said, if we can extent JJ (not to the richest contract in FA history) I'm ok with the deal.

I don't mind overpaying on an annual basis since we might not be able to sign these kinds of FA's, but the length's are scary (even extending JJ a bunch of yrs)

Could you provide a link or something regarding these rumored wishes? I didn't hear anything about him not wanting to play for Toronto.

The key with the deal is that, although its risky, it lets everyone in the baseball world know that the Blue Jays are serious. The fact they have Bautista lends a lot of credibility as well. The guy has a lot of personality and really wants to win.

I think that the Jays will sign one or two more players and then make a flurry of moves afterwards, in all likelihood, for pitching depth.

I'v been saying it all along, Boni is the biggest dark horse in this trade currently. The potential to hit for avg and swipe bases is there. Ill be honest, all this "utility" crap that is being said about him isn't fair, this guy is a starter. Had him in my baseball pool last year and was putting up good numbers before his injury occured, everything else went downhill for the rest of the year.

Boni in my opinion, the starting left field next year. PENDING any other moves that may bring in another fielder or someone of higher quality. But for my roster, he starts.

Honestly, can't see to many more moves happening. One more solid move in LF. Mayyyybee 2 as another starter, but it starts with one of our catchers, im gonna go on a limb and say JP. A flurry of moves is a absolute no.

EDIT: trading Johnson already? Seriously. I want this guy locked up, and locked up soon. This kid is a stud and he is gonna be hungry for some W's this year, not to mention the luxury of playing in the AL east and beating up on them sox, rays and yanks.

There are no such rumours, who makes up this stuff? Is it like a game of telephone based on people mishearing or misreporting the comments from his agent?

I'm really not happy with our outfield at the moment. Having 2 holes in CF and LF makes me uneasy. I'm okay with a questionable 1B/2B platoon going on (I'm feeling good about Boni making a name for himself), but not with 4 key positions just up in the air (or filled with questionable players, like Rasmus, who sucks)

naw its not risky

it's not like AA mortgaged the future

and if we lose someone like JJ, we can find someone else at the same price as a UFA or trade next yr.

...about Buehrle? Thought they were referring to Johnson. God, our inferiority complex is deeply ingrained if we can't even enjoy a blockbuster trade like this for 24 hours before we start panicking. Sad, really.
