Yeah also Buck can lead to a sort of Hanigan/Mesoraco scenario where you can start D'Arnaud right out of the spring but if he struggles you have a solid veteran to fill in

Happ.

Hutch and Drabek might not even pitch in the majors this upcoming season due to their respective TJ surgeries.

If I am AA, I would try trading JPA for a young starter that has options because right now, they don't have a good option to call upon if a starter goes down.

Davidi just agreed with him then moved onto talking about how good Reyes is.

It was more they were assuming because they had 2 starting catchers they were gonna trade 1. And they said we should trade JPA because he had more value.

Okay after thinking here's what I actually came up;

LINEUP
SS Jose Reyes
CF Colby Rasmus
RF Jose Bautista
DH/1B Edwin Encarnacion
1B/DH Adam Lind
3B Brett Lawrie
2B Emilio Bonifacio
C J.P. Arencibia
LF Rajai Davis

BENCH
OF Mosies Sierra
IF Maicer Izturis
1B David Cooper
C John Buck

STARTERS
SP Josh Johnson
SP Brandon Morrow
SP Mark Buerhle
SP Ricky Romero
SP J.A. Happ

BULLPEN
RP Esmil Rogers
RP Aaron Loup
RP Steve Delabar
RP Luis Perez
RP Sergio Santos
SU Darren Oliver
CP Casey Janssen

I'd like to add a starting LF (use Rajai off the bench) and bring back Brandon Lyon.

If we don't acquire a LF or 2B, I'd let Bonofacio swap between LF and 2B until one of Izturis or Davis takes the ball and forces Boni to play the other position full-time.

Why are people getting the idea the Boni is just a utility player? He's more then capable of being an everyday starter.

I find it hilarious he's talking about moving JPA, or any starting C, to make some room for TDA when he was saying how much more valuable an asset JPA is and they should keep him over TDA.

I guess there is enough space on the 40man? Do they have to shuffle anyone?

Probably because he can play LF, 2B, SS and 3B but there is no doubt that he is going to be getting everyday AB's whether they are at LF or 2B or even both.

It was more like to make room for Buck because they have to trade one and JPA is worth so much more than Buck it doesn't even need to be explained, and that it's easier to ease TDA into the starting role if Buck has it instead of another young catcher like Arencibia.

I like Bay - but that's cause I've always been a fan. Very bad year though, but if we could get him dirt cheap, I'd bring him on.

But maybe we could move Buck and convince management to spend the extra money on Ryan Ludwick to be our starting LFer. I'm guessing Ludwick gets about $8M - so moving Buck would free up about $4M (after bringing up D'Arnaud to replace him).

Mike Wilner just made the most hilarious comparison between Jeffrey Loria and the guy that sold Springfield the mono-rail.
