I was wondering, how close are the leagues in Europe and the world to the NHL and AHL in terms of pay? Jeff Marek made note of how if the bottom line talents of the NHL don't receive a higher pay they would bolt for Europe instead of the AHL ruining the NHL's depth.

A 4th liner in the NHL would make more in the NHL than in any European league. He could probably make more in Europe than in the AHL on a 2-way but he would be playing in the AHL for his shot at making the dough in the NHL. Not sure what Marek was saying

Jeff Marek usually doesn't come off as very smrt.

Really, only the bottom line European talent would go back to Europe, and they pretty much already do. I can't see a team in Europe paying more than NHL minimum for someone like Kostopoulos or Jackman.
