Everything!!

Let's speculate on the value of EVERYTHING based on the supply and demands of your team.
Don't name names. Name the quality of the player.

Examples:

1st-4th line left wingers, right wingers or centers.
Top 6 power forwards, snipers or playmakers.
Bottom 6 grinders, enforcers.

Whatever. Just don't name the names of the players you're aiming for. Just talk about what you think your team would be willing or able to cough up for a specific quality of a player. Feel free to name the names of what you're willing to cough up so that we can get a good feel for what your fan base feels the worth of your players and then *POOF* *WALAAA* We can vastly improve the quality of the proposals. (in the eyes of the fan bases of the teams involved) Rock on!!

[b]Suggestion:[/b} Don't bash people of other fan bases. Argue with your own and come out of this thread with a greater understanding of what people of other fan bases would be willing to accept as a reasonable proposal!

Have fun!

I'll start things off.

Being an Oil fan, here I go.

People can argue that Edmonton needs a top six power forward, a stud of a 1st pairing defenseman and a starting goalie.

With the starting goalie, I'm honestly happy with Dubynk, but with the media talking about how Edmonton was actually talking about Luongo before the trade deadline, I guess we need to accept the fact that Edmonton does have some interest.

With a power forward winger, Edmonton's little guys would get a hell of a lot more space out there. Some of us Oil fans can see Hartikainen getting tossed into that role like Thomas Holmstrom was with Detroit. Sine the jury is still out on Hartski I feel the power forward to Edmonton conversation should be in play.

The second line center for Edmonton has to pop up. Some think that this has to be Gagner's last chance, while others have given up on him.

And lastly for the d-man, Edmonton wasn't the 2nd worst team in the NHL last season for nothing.

Reliable starting goalie ---> Dubnyk, Gagner and Marincin/2nd rounder

Top-6 power forward winger ---->Hemsky or Gagner, a prospect not named Yakupov, Schultz or Klefbom and a conditinoal 1st rounder. If it's a top 3 pick then the pick moves onto the next year. The team gets the pick regardless of how poorly Edmonton does the 2nd time the draft pick comes around.

Good overall stud top pairing d-man ------>> One of the big four and Jeff Petry.

Have fun, be nice and hopefully this thread can last for a million pages!

I'm only going to do the NEEDS because I'm at work and can't do a full report, lol.

This is just my opinion, Leaf fans.

Toronto Maple Leafs

Needs:

A veteran starting goaltender. Reimer has the upside to be a starter - unfortunately, injuries and a sophomore slump has both damaged his play and his confidence. It was also no coincidence that his poor play coorelated with the loss of goalie J.S. Giguere in the offseason. In order for Reimer to reach his maximum upside and become a starter, a veteran starter should be brought in to carry a heavier workload while continuing to mentor Reimer. Vokuon was a great option until he went to Pittsburgh, Luongo is also a very debatable option.

A #1 defenseman. Not a huge need but it wouldn't hurt. Arguments are made all around for Phaneuf but a safe consensus would be that he's a great #2 defenseman. A #1 defenseman to play along side Phaneuf while not the Leafs biggest need because of strong defensive depth, it wouldn't hurt to have one to cover up for Phaneuf's mental lapses which can occur.

Either a #1 center or another great #2 center. I'm not on the boat that a #1C is a huge need for the Leafs. They're offensively great so I believe that instead of acquiring a proven #1C that having a center depth of two great #2C's would be ideal because of how strong the team is on the wing. Ideally this center would be defensively strong and can play in between our two top line wingers in Kessel/Lupul.

Another strong top six winger. Not a huge need at all but it would help with depth. I think Kulemin would be most effective in a third line shut down role which opens up a spot on the RW of the second line. Ideally, I would put Kadri there but if he doesn't pan out, another top six winger would be needed - especially with Connolly, Lombardi and MacArthur seemingly out the door.

Buffalo Sabres

This is a team that is building for the future. For the first time in a long time, we have young depth at center and some toughness to boot. I see a lot of what Philly has built with young talent down the middle and a franchise defensemen. We might even have a power forward. In the short term however we need a vet center who can kill penalties and provide some leadership.

I'm sure I'm homering it up, but from what I see in prospects and young NHLers we have a potential

franchise center
franchise defensemen
second line offensive center
two-top 9 two way centers
first line scoring winger
power forward
physical top 4 defensemen-more 2nd pairing then 1st
mobile shutdown defensivemen (although he's 26)
jack of all trades top 4 defensemen-possible first pairing dman.

Now whether or not they all reach their aforementioned celing is a big question, but this is the wagon Sabres are hitched to for the forseeable future.

Now when I look at that, I see lots of defensmen, lots of centers, but not much in the terms of wingers. Especially young two way wingers, although you could sign me up for another younger top 9 winger with size and an edge too.

On a personal note, I would LOVE two potential franchise defensemen, but hey who won't.

Demands: #1 Centre, Top 4 Shutdown Dman, Veteran Tandem Goaltender

Supply: NHL-Ready Prospects (Forwards), Cody Franson (if defenceman is coming in return), middle-of-the-lineup forwards.

Vancouver Canucks:

Needs:

Top 6 RW-Preferably a playmaker and/or physical presence.

3C- If Malhotra isn't able to come back to form, we'll need to find a replacement C. Important attributes include physicality, scoring, and defensive play.

On the block:

Luongo/Schneider-Our greatest expendable asset, market is limited but should still be able to solve at least one if not both of our needs.

Raymond-Decent player, but simply doesn't fit with us anymore. Not suited for a bottom-6 role, he'd likely do well on a team that could use winger depth in their top-6.

Ballard-Buried behind our depth at LD, his value has gone down considerably sinc trading for him. Perhaps he can be swapped for another change-of-scenery player, like a 3C(Stajan, Antropov, and Connolly come to mind...Lol all Leafs/former Leafs).

Edler-Possible but unlikely trade bait, might be traded if there is a complete lack of chemistry amongst our top-6 as we now have 4 players who generally only play left. Would require us to be a better team at the end of the trade, regardless of what people think of his contract status. Most likely stays a Canuck.

NYI needs in no particular order:

2nd line center: Ryan Strome or Brock Nelson look poised to take this position. No worries here, just time.

Top pairing offensive defenseman: We have alot of big defensive minded defenseman, with Mark Streit getting up there in age, someone needs to fill that role. Calvin de Haan has not proven he can stay healthy, alot of fans are saying Aaron Ness is too small, and Brenden Kichton is yet without a contract. Matt Donovan on the other hand is developing great but needs more time to work on his game in the defensive zone. The jury is still out on whether we can fill this void internally.

1st line right winger: I would prefer a right handed shot but at the end of the day it does not matter. I'm sure we can fill this void internally with prospects like Nino, Kirill Kabanov, or even transition a center like Ryan Strome to wing. We also have current roster players like Josh Bailey or Kyle Okposo that are still young.

Starting goaltender: With Nabby getting up there in age and DP being DP we are going to need to make some decisions in the future. Kevin Poulin is going to need time if he wants to become an NHL goaltender. Many Isles fans as do I believe Anders Nilssom is the real deal. He is so big, athletic, and positionally sound yet he still really raw and will need time in the minors. We might need a stop gap in a year or two but we look good for the future so far.
