KINGS SIGN LUKE ADAM TO 2-YEAR CONTRACT

The Los Angeles Kings have signed 22 year old forward Luke Adam to a 2-year agreement. Adam, who split time between the Buffalo Sabres and the Rochester Americans of the AHL last season, tallied 10-10-20 in 50 games with the Sabres.

"Luke goes to the net and he doesn't stop working till the pucks in the back of the net. We've been looking for a player of his skill set to ride shotgun at LW with Richie and Jeff on the 2nd line."

Oilers sign 2

Jacob Markstrom has signed a 4 year deal worth $3M per season. We are thrilled to have added a goaltender of his caliber to our organization, and he will be playing right away. Adding probably the top goaltending prospect in the world as our franchise net-minder is a big deal for us, and it sews up the position for the foreseeable future.

Scott Nichol has signed a 1 year deal worth $600,000. We are very happy that Scott decided against his $600,000,000 offer and chose to sign with us instead (an example other UFAs should follow to sign with us). Scott will bring needed grit, energy, and defensive awareness to our 4th line.

The Dallas Stars have signed Andre Benoit to a 2 year deal worth $700,000 per season.

"Andre has paid his dues in the AHL and now he deserves a shot in the NHL."

Lock up defenseman Alex Edler to a 7 year contract worth 40.25.

We're thrilled to have Edler in Pittsburgh. We tried to sign him before the off-season but we understood his desire to test the market and we respected it. Glad he decided to return as a major piece of this franchise moving forward.

has signed G Jose Theodore to a 1 year deal worth $1.2M. We're happy to bring in a vet goalie who will likely split starts with Markstrom, who is also familiar with him. Plus he's about 1/3 the price of Dubnyk.

The Devils are very excited to announce the signing of tough, rugged defenseman Mike Weber. The former Sabre, we feel has good promise and brings a toughness to our back-end that was missing before.

2 years @ .8 million/season

Sign goaltender Thomas Greiss

Montreal Canadiens and Thomas Greiss have agree to a 2 year deal worth a total of 1.6mil$.

''Very happy to add a quality goaltender like Thomas to our team. We feel Greiss will give us a great chance to win the games he will start.''

Detroit, MI That was a short rebuild in Detroit, apparently. The Red Wings have made two big splashes this afternoon as they have come to agreements on contracts with defenseman Mark Streit and winger Alexander Semin. Streit received a 5 year deal worth $27.5M and Semin received a 7 year deal worth $49M. Both players received a no-trade clause. Red Wings GM IR4 was quoted as saying, "I was bored."

DUCKS BRING BACK SELANNE, SIGN HORTON AND FISTRIC

The Anaheim Ducks have been quite active in the free agency market, signing forwards Teemu Selanne and Nathan Horton, along with defenseman Mark Fistric.

Teemu Selanne 4.5M$ for 1 year with NMC
Nathan Horton 36M$ for 6 years (6M$ cap hit) with NTC
Mark Fistric 6M$ for 3 years (2M$ cap hit)

Last season, we had to take the difficult decision to trade Selanne to our division rival, the LA Kings. He had the chance to win another Stanley cup and we were happy for him. But he had to come back where he belongs and we didn’t waste any time to ask him if he would like to come back for one more season before his retirement. We have a young team and we feel it was important to add such a leader for our organization. He will play on the second line with Ryan Strome and Nino Niederreiter.

We gave a huge contract to Horton but he was the perfect fit for our team. He has plenty of experience in the NHL and he is still quite young. He will be an important part of our core for years to come. He will play on the first line with Bobby Ryan and Cody Hodgson.

Our cap space gave us the opportunity to add a guy like Fistric who will make our defense group really deep. We are planinng to go with a rotation between Souray, Allen and him as our bottom pairing defensemen. Injuries are part of the game and if Fistric can stay healthy, he should be able to play pretty much all the games next season.

I had a long write up but then the internet crashed....

Devils sign:

Michal Neuvirth - 2 years @ 1.65 million

Benoit Pouliot - 1 year @ 1.1 million

We are very excited for both and expect big things. We like Neuvirths experience for a young goalie and we like Pouliot's combination of size, strength and offensive skills. It was a no brainer to pick up a 25 year old 30 point player who is 6'3.

New Threads; Morrow, Hannan, Scuderi put on Blue Jackets

The Columbus Blue Jackets made sure their tailor was present in the free agent market, inking free agent forward Brendan Morrow to a 4 year, 14M$ contract paying him 3.5M$ per season, as well as defenceman Scott Hannan to a 1 year, 900K$ contract and Stanley Cup winning blue-liner Rob Scuderi to a 2 year, 5M$ contract paying him 2.5M$ per season.

"We are ecstatic to have lured these guys to Columbus. We consider it a huge win for this organization." Jackets GM TribalPhoenix stated in a release tonight.

"Brendan Morrow will become an instant leader in the dressing room, and will slot in as a key point of our offensive and defensive game. We plan to try him our at a few spots in the lineup, but believe he will be a key factor in our future success. Scott Hannan is a hard-nosed defender who leads by example, and makes sure the opposition suffers when they walk into our zone. Rob Scuderi brings a winning pedigree from his days in Los Angeles and Pittsburgh, and will be a huge part in our defensive corps. We believe we have added some key pieces."

"Sit tight though. We're not done yet."

ALL THE KINGS MEN - FILPULLA, VISNOVSKY, O'BYRNE, BICKELL SIGN WITH LOS ANGELES

Filpulla's spent a career flanking the likes of Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Crosby, and now, Kopitar. Last season Filpulla tallied 23 goals and 66 points in 81 games. He completes a top line trio of Filpulla - Kopitar - Brown.

After having bounced around to 4 different teams in 5 years, Lubo re-joins the team that drafted him. He's one of the highest scoring defenseman since the lockout and we know he's got a lot of offense still left in him. We're glad to welcome Lubo back to the fold!

Ryan brings a truck(stick)load of physicality to the blueline and shown flashes of being a capable shutdown defenseman.

Bryan brings more truculence that we cannot get enough of. He'll fit into the bottom-6 rotation and shore up a young LW side.

Valterri Filpulla - Anze Kopitar - Dustin Brown
Luke Adam - Mike Richards - Jeff Carter
Dwight King - Jarret Stoll - Justin Williams
Kyle Clifford - Colin Fraser - Jordan Nolan

Drew Doughty - Ryan O'Byrne
Willie Mitchell - Slava Voynov
Lubomir Visnovsky - Matt Greene

Jonathan Quick
Dan Ellis

SCRATCHES: Trevor Lewis, Bryan Bickell, Alec Martinez
