Gotta come up with a good foreign hire IMO. Personally I need to take inventory and look at the managers out there before picking my favorite.

I'm not celebrating this until I know his replacement.

If it's Klinsmann that would be a huge mistake.

Thank God, but as Live In The Now mentions, I'm not celebrating until I know who the replacement is. Not a big fan of Klinsmann, but just about anyone would be an upgrade over Bradley.

That wasn't going to happen considering they did better than they did in 2006.

They really going to go foreign? They should, but they seem be all about the American thing.

Klinsmann is an upgrade no matter what. The dude is German, a proven winner in many regards.

don't think it mattered that they waited.

I think they were fine keeping him through the Gold Cup. They weren't winning the Gold Cup anyhow. They found out they have some problems, and they have some bright spots. A new manager might not of had enough meaningful time to prepare his side for the Gold Cup. Two or three friendlies (one being against Spain where they get drubbed) isn't enough to really set a roster/lineup. Now someone can come in, play some friendlies and get his system in place with no real time pressure.

It's only twitter, take it with a grain of salt, but Lippi has been rumored to be the favorite for the post.

Sigi will garner a look. Bradley did alright with a good but not great team.

It was Andres Cantor who commented about Lippi. He definitely knows something...

So, just spitballing: In no particular order, major European coaches with no job right now:

Rafa Benitez
Marcelo Lippi
Claudio Ranieri
Louis Van Gaal
Jurgen Klinsmann
Marco van Basten

Any more out there that I'm missing?

Of those, Benitez, Ranieri, and Klinsmann definitely speak English. No idea about the others.

Grant Wahl says we won't be surprised by the identity of the new coach. So it's going to be Klinsmann. Garbage.

Klinsmann is an upgrade in every sense of the term.

He's achieved more than Bob could ever dream of, even at Bayern

But is he the best they can get? I don't think so.

The USSF isn't going to pay more than a million, tops. So yes.

He's also had more opportunity than Bob to achieve something. My biggest problem is that it isn't remotely enough of an upgrade.

Do you really think the USSF even has the resources to pay a Lippi or a van Gaal what they expect to make? Bob was making $700,000 a year... Fabio Capello is making 4.8 million. Klinsmann is the only real option, would you be happier with Kreis or Kinnear?
