Thiessen was solid tonight, but man, he's so weak on high shots from the point. It seems like every comeback or dagger goal I've seen in his starts is a defenseman unleashing a quick one.
Also, I'm not sure what the stats look like, but the powerplay just seems dire. I'd like to see some different players out there for it.
Getting Ferriero off of it would be an improvement. Or at least have him lug the puck less, half the time he turns it over and they waste 30 seconds just trying to get entry. I don't know how much of it is him struggling and how much of it is him being put into situations he isn't suited for.
It seems partly like a system thing to me. It seems like they're trying to set up the perfect shot or something. So when they do get a cycle going, it just never ends until a point man takes a panic shot into someone's legs. I actually think Ferriero has settled in a bit. Earlier it seemed like he was a weak link, but now I just think it's all busted. If only they listened to the crowd begging them to shoot.
We need to call Crosby and tell him to do that instead of going to Europe. Get some chemistry with Bennett
Something tells me WBS doesn't quite have the money for that. I'd rather Crosby not play than go into a goon-happy league. When Mac went mental against Norfolk last year, he only got a 4 game suspension or something.
WBS look as terrible as always, Hynes has some strange ideas for lines.
