In the first period (2:19), very small scrum in front of the Worcester net after a save by the Worcester goalie (Sanford). Rullier came in from the blue line, dropped his gloves and invited Buckley to join him. Buckley refused to go with Joe, hid behind a couple of his teammates and Rullier got 2-mins for unsportsmanlike conduct.
At 7:16 Schmidt stood Buckley up with a questionable interference call. Parros came in on the fly, from the front, dropped the gloves and started pounding on Buckley. Buckley did see him coming and had his gloves off by the time George started pounding on him. This probably would have done it for the night, but after the linesmen broke them apart, Buckley started running his mouth and jesturing at Parros in a "you've got nothing" tone. Parros just shook his head with a big grin on his face.
Second Period:
Halfway through the period while lining up for the faceoff following Parros' GWG, D.J. King challenged Dan Welch. The Linesman got in between them and Rullier just skated up and sent Welch to the right defense position. Well the puck never did get dropped and even though King's jersey came off immediately and he was free to swing, Rullier with the win. I don't think King had any desire to go with Welch and the move was likely designed to get Rullier involved. King might want to rethink that strategy next time.
Buckley only skated when Worcester enforcer D.J. King (6'3" 230-lbs) was on the ice for the rest of the first period and until King went with Rullier in the second.
Well, as time was running out on the 5s to Rullier and King, Buckley found himself on the ice without his bodyguard and Parros found him as well. Parros got right in his face, dropped his gloves Buckley really had no choice but to go with him. Up until this point, the Monarchs hit just about every guy who touched the puck and several that didn't. They were finishing every hit HARD. Some of the Worcester players had to be thinking "I wish he'd just go with someone because I'm getting pretty tired of picking my butt up off the ice"...Parros nailed Buckley with several huge rights, took him down and finished it off with two or three to the back of Buckley's head. Buckley didn't have much to say after this one.
Less than 30-seconds later during a scrum in front of the Monarchs net, Ryan Ramsay, visor and all, starts throwing bombs at Mike Weaver and goes for a take down. Weaver slips Ramsay's jersey hold, remains on his feet and now Ramsay is on all 4s with Weaver holding the neck of his jersey. Weaver gets Ramsays helmet off with his first hit then unloads with a barrage of uppercuts to Ramsay's face and head. I thought this was the best fight of the night.
Third Period:
King challenges Parros and Parros was more than willing to go with him. Parros got a good arm lock on King and held him at bay while King swung without connecting. Parros got an opening and nailed King. Parros opened King up under his left eye. Parros done for the night, 3rd fight. King to the dressing room for some medical attention. King originally went to the box and his face was a mess....
The Monarchs did a good job last night. When Buckley refused to go with Rullier, the entire team took it up a notch with their physical play and basically sent a message of give us Buckley or we are going to make this a very painful experience for every one of you...

Ryan Kinasewich made his AHL debut, recording an assist on Ryan's goal. I made a quick search, he has decent size (6.2 ft - 202 pounds) and put up good numbers with the Royals.
How did he play last night?
He played well. The kid has got incredible vision and is very unselfish. Honestly, I had some concern when he was not scratched last night. A friend of mine in Reading told me that Kinasewich really wasn't physical at all. I figured last night was going to be a physical battle but not to the extent it was. Anyway, he responded well to the physical game, did a good job of holding the puck along the boards down low and had a few sweet feeds including the one to Ryan.
My guess is that Kinasewich will be heading back to Reading after the game with the P-Bruins on Friday. The Monarchs will be off for the All-Star break at that point and the Royals have games on Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday.
I thought the kid looked fine last night and earned another game...
Steckel shows up every night. He centers Parros and Schmidt these days. I have no issues with Steckel's effort on a shift-to-shift basis. He's going to be in Manchester for at least all of next season.
KB! That was a tremendous fight summary. It is the first time I've been excited about hockey this "season". Wish I had some hockey to watch. Maybe it's time to head to a Condors game, but hockey in Bakersfield is like BBQ pork in Mecca. Thanks again guy.
Reminds me of the classic Edmonton-Kings game ten years back or so. Over 300 PM's and only six or seven players on each bench at the end of the game. Favorite memory: McSorley on the boards surrounded by three Oilers who seem to envelope him. A pissed McSorley comes roaring out of the pile throwing blows at all three Oilers. Oh the memories. Remember when the Kings had an enforcer, not a couple of middleweights.
