Can't wait for this tournament but at the same time I know it's not that exciting because all I'll get to see is final scores
Great Britain has to host so we can send 99 problems to the rink to live stream the game for us
I don't even know when the last time we hosted a men's tournament was. Says a lot about IHUK when we've hosted 2 women's tournaments in 2 years, but no men's ones in god knows how many years. I'm pretty sure its not a case of the IIHF awarding it to better cities/arenas either, we never actually apply to host.

Hosting has something to do with costs of accomodations (hotels) and prices are lower in eastern Europe. Just look how many times Estonia or Lithuania hosted various U18 and U20 tournaments in last 10 years

The IIHF don't pay that, it's the hosting country that does, the IIHF doesn't really care where hosting is as long as their facilities for the hockey and the teams is in keeping with the regulations.
Case in point is that GB had the chance to host the men's Olympic qualifier, when GB passed on it, they gave it to Japan, now these aren't two cheap places to put on a hockey tournament. The point is that GB passed on it because they quite simply couldn't be bothered and Japan were.
GB has more then enough facilities to host these tournaments and I'm sure the IIHF are like FIFA interested in spreading these things around but until IHUK shows some guts and goes for it, then we wont see a men's tournament here for quite some time.

We wouldn't be hosting in London, I highly doubt a capital city like Tallinn would have cheaper hotels than a crappy northern city like Sheffield (no offence to any Steelers fans reading this). But that isn't the point, the thing is like I said we never actually even apply to host, if we did apply and IIHF gave it to cities like Tallinn because it's cheaper then I would understand, but that isn't the case.
From the iceman epl facebook page report, GB lost 3-2 against Manchester Phoenix who played their backup netminder plus a few guys called up from the NIHL Trafford Metros

Yup, no Hand, Schnabel or Fone for Phoenix, used Shannon Long, Sean Day and Jared Dickinson from the Metros. There's a full report HERE. Jared got an assist and MOM, he's been one of the best prospects in the system for years so it's good to see him get his chance to impress. For too long Phoenix have let good junior and NL players get away from them so hopefully they're changing their stance.

Haha that's a name of a top North American prospect that is starting to get some buzz at age 14
So did Jared Dickinson just make himself a lock on the U18 squad?

Not even close, he's the best in the Phoenix system but there are so many better players elsewhere. The Manchester pipeline needs more investment and attention from the parent club if it's to develop top players.

I wouldn't say so, judging by his stats he has a pretty good shot at the U18 team, but he's certainly not a lock.
There'll be highlights afterwards on Youtube. In games like this Tony usually coaches from the bench, I expect he'll want a good look at the players himself for senior GB team purposes.
