since this year has been a lockout year, all three CHL leagues have benefited by having a bit more extra talent lying around then normal.
so I thought it would be fun if we could kind of do an all-star matchup and list the top 20 or so players from the OHL, WHL, and QMJHL right now (no matter age) and see which league right now is the most stacked with talent.
you only need to make a roster for one league if you want, focus on the league you know best, but I would like to see what the consensus will be as to which CHL league (OHL, WHL, or QMJHL) has the most overall talent playing in it right now!!
I will update the roster section of the 3 different leagues once we get a majority of players voted on and then we will do a battle royal to see who wins...
Percy - Hamilton
Harrington - Corrado
Ceci - Murphy
Finn
Subban
Gibson
I think they win pretty handily. QMJHL has a very weak defense right now and the WHL doesn't quite have the high end forwards. OHL has great defense, very deep forwards and probably the two best goalies in the country (should start for the Canada and US respectively).

Reason: 13th forward and 7th defenseman
Q has guys who can actually finish....O has guys who can skate and play a good 2-way game.. DUB has guys who are BIG and hit but are slow, lack hockey sense, can't finish, can read and play D + the most overhyped "FAB %" on D that I have ever seen... DUB has no godd goalies BECAUSE they face no good shooters...Q goalies over-rated ...O has goalies who actually can stop pucks.
DUB is the most physical league--BUT they are DUMB and get caught out of position after going out of their way just to make a hit ..ALL this energy in hitting ALSO leads to stupid penalties because they go overboard (hitting from behind etc..) AND also exposing them to transition rushes back the other way against less than the equired defense (because they were caught up ice making the hit)...all this hiting also tires them out for easy fodder scoring by oppnents in the 3rd period..THe DUB--BIG,SLOW ,TOUGh but DUMB...
THE O --smart 2-way hockey and good goaltending .
More NHL-like...
THE Q-- Skill and finishing ability, smart puck movement . Not physical enough overall.
Over-rated goalies..
I think this sums up the leagues quite well.
Recently we see the USHL dominate CANADA EAST and CANADA WEST at the WORLD JR. A CHALLENGE tournament...Obviously the USHL is better than the JR. A leagues (NON Major Junior) in the West and East of Canada ..MAYBE if you combined the Canada entiy into one team it could do better against these USHL selects BUT i suspect not.
I Think that the USHL selects could compete against a DUB,Q ,or O all-star squad from each league--bUT that overal the depth is better in the 3 CHL leagues such that if you made up 2nd all-star teams from each of the 3 CHL leagues those teams would crush any 2nd all star selects team from the USHL ..In other words the best 25USHL players are equal to the best 25 of each of the 3 cHL leagues --but after that the USHL quality drops off sharply in comparison.. something along those lines..

Q defense isn't great, but with the addition of Abeltshauser, Lefebvre and Sergeev, it's not very weak. Plus their offense is incredible this year. But, for the Q to win it, goalies should be reverse. Gibson and Subban are just way safer than their peers from other leagues.

Goalies:Malcolm Subban and John Gibson are scary good as #1/2. No league touches them IMHO. Binnington is a distant HM as #3.
Defense:Dougie Hamilton, Ryan Murphy, Cody Ceci, Scott Harrington, Olli Maatta, Ryan Sproul... then I had to stop and think... and I like Adam Pelech a lot so that's my top-7
Forwards:Mark Scheifele, Alex Galchenyuk, Boone Jenner, Sean Monahan, Brendan Gaunce, Scott Kosmachuk, Scott Laughton, Radek Faksa, Tobias Rieder, Seth Griffith, Ryan Strome, Brett Ritchie, Rickard Rakell, Stefan Noesen, Tom Wilson, Daniel Catanacci, Vince Trocheck, Nick Cousins, Josh Leivo, Kerby Rychel... could HM a good 6-10 others who are probably interchangeable with some on this list... hopefully the other posters remember them and get the votes in for those I've missed.

Try making a team of USHL players and then compare it to the OHL. It won't be pretty.

Maybe you shouldnt write stuff about things you have no idea about?
Like the WHL for instance.
And Lol at the USHL being able to compete with CHL league all start teams.

Hey, why didn't I read the rules? I listed 20 forwards??!?! Ok, revision... top-13 are just the bolded ones above, and I get three goalies so Binnington can be in afterall.
