Better Offensive Peak: Potvin vs Leetch

Who had the better offensive peak, Denis Potvin or Brian Leetch? All around I think this is no question, but offensive vs offensive peak gets interesting.

Leetch peaked higher, but Potvin had a longer (and better) offensive prime.

For the purposes of this poll, though, it's Leetch.

This doesn't seem to be a matter or opinion:

1990-91 22 NYR NHL 80 16 72 88 29 2 42 10 6 0 4 206 7.8

1991-92 23 NYR NHL 80 22 80 102 34 25 26 11 10 1 3 245 9.0

1992-93 24 NYR NHL 36 6 30 36 12 2 26 3 2 1 1 150 4.0

1975-76 22 NYI NHL 78 31 67 98 35 12 100 13 18 0 4 256 12.1

1976-77 23 NYI NHL 80 25 55 80 29 42 103 17 7 1 4 241 10.4

1977-78 24 NYI NHL 80 30 64 94 33 57 81 21 9 0 6 288 10.4

1978-79 25 NYI NHL 73 31 70 101 35 71 58 16 12 3 2 237 13.1

And I'm a Rangers fan.

What does jump out at me is that the difference is entirely (and then some) in goal differential. Leetch's assist numbers are consistently higher, whereas Potvin's goal totals are obscene for a defenseman.

I'd compare how they finished in the D-man scoring race opposed to actual numbers since they played almost 20 years apart.

But do you actually think if Leetch played 15yrs earlier he would have scored at a 15goal/yr higher pace in his peak/prime? His points should arguably go up a bit, but 15goals/yr is huge margin, especially for d-men.
