2012-13 should be a good season for the attack, who will they bring in for Stajcer?

they should have lots of returnees for sure, I think they might have bring in Cesario, or they might make a trade for a goalie?

Binnington? Ive never felt theyve given him a fair shot, would it not be his year to take over the No. 1 spot.

actually I watched both Binnington and Stajcer all year, and I found Binnington a bit more dynamic that Stajcer. Binnington was my personal favorite. He will no doubt get lead role but I was really asking who will be accompanying him

Bench Talk / Off The Wire
May 23, 2012

Maidens Recovery
Jarrod Maidens called the radio station the other day.

Unfortunately, I wasn't around and didn't get a chance to speak with the former Owen Sound Attack first rounder.

When I returned the call, Jarrod was out, but I did speak with family members who gave me a quick update on his status.

Maidens will forever be remembered in these parts as the hero who scored the overtime game winning goal when Owen Sound won the 2011 OHL Championship in Game 7 at Mississauga against St Mike's.

In his second season, Maidens was off to a solid start scoring 12 times in the first third of the season.

However, he was injured November 30th in a game at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore against the Barrie Colts, and the severity of that blow resulted in Maidens missing the remainder of the season.

Almost 6 months later, Jarrod Maidens is not quite 100 percent, but he continues to make progress and is focused on returning to Owen Sound at full strength.

With his accomplishments and his potential, Maidens is an intriguing prospect for National Hockey League scouts and teams.

The NHL Central Scouting Bureau has him ranked 35th among North American skaters heading into the 2012 NHL Entry Draft,

Over the weekend, he was in Toronto where he was interviewed by a couple of NHL teams.

He'll be returning for more interviews during the upcoming NHL Combine which begins May 28th, however, he will not be able to participate in any of the exercises or physical testing that is conducted at the event.

So, while there's progress, there's still a roadblock to deal with and the hope remains that Jarrod Maidens can return to hockey in Owen Sound and potentially far beyond sooner rather than later.

I'm Fred Wallace

Attack Hand Out Hardware!

for the scope of the team:
Chris Bigras - Rookie of the year, and playoff MVP... I still say he would've been a better pick than Nurse for the past U-18 roster.
... and yes I know Nurse is a good player too

Bigras did well and so did Nurse. Will be really interesting to see who makes U18 this year considering there will be room for both of the above boys for sure.

yes they did pretty good at the draft... just like last year. They'll have a very strong defense including Bennington in net. If they get 2 good centerman, they'll go very far. Maybe Nasty (last years first pick) will shine this season now that he got the rookie year behind him.

I think Owen Sound have good scouts, I really like this year's first round, looks like another solid defenseman.

Maidens Bouncing Back from Injury
I hope he's 100% for next season, he would make a huge difference. I'm thinking Ottawa will send him back to the OHL?

Understand your 3rd round pick Evan Smith from the Nats is going to Salisbury Prep with his brother in the fall.

Probably the best Prep School in the New England area, although as every other Ontario kids have had to, so will the Smiths have to acclimatize to a much shorter season. Only problem for Salisbury has been keeping kids around as they all seem to bolt back to the OHL.

Give that one a few weeks. Mississauga is as much of an option as Penn State at this point.
