Oh thank god you came to a rival teams board and told us our player is inferior in comparison! Bless your kind heart sir! (was the emoticon even necessary? I layered that sarcasm on like It was nutella).
If this were a beauty pageant Duchene would win....unless the Oilers fans got involved. They would say that Eberle is like young Paul Newman and Brad Pitt combined.
Duchene's goal = Most overrated goal of the year. Pretty horrible goaltending first of all, and that through the legs move isn't really impressive. I bet any really good peewee player can pull it off. Hell, even I can pull off that move anytime (and I never played organized hockey).
Eberle shouldn't have beaten Malkin though...
Most situations where Edmonton is an option in a poll will have their fans support the team, it's somewhat cute at this point. Any discussion last season had "AINEC" fixated somewhere in combination with why they would make the playoffs, why they were better than Colorado or why their core was the best core in the league.
If you want to find a franchise which is comfortable enough with itself (fans at least), Detroit ones will typically be ok voting for other teams if they believe someone else is better than their own player.
It's really just an interesting psychological analysis of human nature. Insecurity stemming from performance and everything.
Of course we're all guilty of this from time to time, but it's this type of philosophy which makes people hate Vancouver, Edmonton, Toronto, etc. Lots of fans with a lot of insecurity due to their teams not living up to expectations time and time again.
