Which position has the best prospects

Lots of noteworthy prospects coming up

Forward: Yakupov, Tarasenko, Bartschi, Galyenchuk, Kuznetov, Granlund, Huderdeau + 2013 draft prospects

Defense: Hamilton, Schultz, Murray, Rielly, Reinhart, Brodin, Smith, Dumba, Vatanen,Klefbom + 2013 draft prospects

Goalie: Lack, Campbell, Wedgewood, Lehner, Markstrom, Subban, Gibson, Vasilevsky + 2013 draft prospects
Which position has the most strength

Honestly I think the quality of defense in the NHL is going to go way up. Defensemen.

Forward prospects fairly easily for me. Yakupov-Hamilton is really close, but otherwise as I compared Tarasenko-Schultz, Baertschi-Murray, etc, I'd pick the forward every time.

I agree. Subban and Vasilevski could also be included. That way you'd have at least around the same amount of players mentioned in each position.

Overall, I think there are more quality forwards, but keep in mind you there are about 400 forwards in the NHL, 150 D, and 60 goalies. It is expected that fewer D and G will be elite. I think defense is the position with the strongest prospects relative to the holes that can be filled at the NHL level.
