Tambijevs said he didn't show up to the exhibition tournament because he claimed he was injured, and then went on to play for this club team that same weekend. The coach refused to take players on the team that didn't show a commitment to it. Simple as that.

So is the decision not to send Girgensons final? I took him in my pool without even realizing.

Jevpalovs-Lipsbergs-Kuzmenkovs
Bukarts-Blueger-Jelisejevs
Ozolins-Sevcenko-Andersons
Edgars Kurmis-Andris Siksnis-Kulda

This is how our offence could look for the game against Finland.

But oh well, thats Tambijevs for you.

Yeah that's kinda odd. You'd think they'd at the very least want someone on the fourth line who can add some scoring. But what would a Latvian team be without the requisite questionable roster decision?

Well maybe Tambijevs wants a good ol` NA type 4th line not alot of skill but good at physical play and letting the scoring lines rest a bit.

Interestingly when Bluegers was asked what does he want to achieve with Latvian u-20 he replied - i want to fight for medals. I guess thats the NA mentality, that we latvians lack.

It's simply ridiculous that some teams won't release their ahl players for the tournament. For a country like Latvia Girgensons is possibly the difference between relegation and survival. It would likely have had zero negative affect on his game to miss two weeks of ahl games.

I just hope that in the first gmae against finland we wont get blown out of the water and that we will fight till the last second no matter what.

My optimistic prediction 4:1 finland takes it.

He wasn't the difference last year, and considering this year's team is stronger, I'd say his absence isn't going to make or break anything now either. That said, it would still be nice to have him, but work takes precedence over a kid's tournament if you're a pro player.

They beat the US 5-1. If you lose 4-1 that's a very good result.

I'm really looking forward to seeing Bukarts play and interested in seeing how he handles himself out there. By the looks of things he could be a guy who rips it up in the next couple years. I wonder how him getting a KHL contract so early will affect where he gets drafted in the NHL.

I am pulling for Latvia to do well this year. If they play their ***** off, I can see them in a quarterfinal game.

Bukarts is definitley a guy to watch on our team, hes the leading scorer for HK riga (russian elite junior league) beeing only 16,while there are guys who are 18,19,20 and even 21,so yeah it will be interesting to see how he develops in the future.

Is it safe to say Bluger will slot in at the 1C position? I'd imagine he will be playing both the PP and PK as well.

I'm not buying this. Dašutins over the season hardly proved that he is a lock for the team. We, by any stretch of imagination, didn't have the most solid exhibition games during the season, and during these nine games he put on the board only three points while Kuzmenkovs tallied sweet sixteen. Then again the cutting of Lavrovs I can't really approve.

Anyway, here are our player stats during this season. (Žoltoks Memorial, Telus Cup and recent three exhibition games).

Lets start with defence- Pauls Zvirbulis and Siksna are porbably 2 of our best d`s altough are defence is very weak this year

Goaltending- Merzlikins and Punnenovs (I think Merzlikins is a bit better than punnenovs)

LW-Rihards Bukarts(hyped player in latvia, possible 1st rounder in 2014) and Jevpalovs from QMJHL

RW Kuzmenkovs from belorrusian league and Jelisejevs from HK riga

C- Blueger from NCAA and Lipsbergs (top rookie of WHL)
