Keith obviously. For the poll, Toews. Surprising person who should have gotten some mention but not won it: Bolland. He was a man on fire defensively and all around even. Pronger/Kane also deserved mention, but not the award.
Bolland was vital that playoff run with great moments offensively , defensively and just getting under guys skin
Byfuglien would have been a dark horse as well given his big goals
Nope. Halak was pulled in all three series and he didn't even start game 4 of round one. A great game 6 and 7 in round one make people really overrate his otherwise average run.
A 1 point margin is not even nearly enough to consider Briere. If Briere scored 35 or 40, sure.
Additionally Briere played one more game than Toews, so Toews had the better PPG as well. Toews deserved it, however as a Blackhawks fan I was rooting for Keith to win it to avoid the bonus caphit which ultimately cost us Ladd/Niemi.
Briere played far more total PP minutes than Toews, played against vastly inferior quality of competition, played an extra game over Toews, played no PK while Toews averaged a whopping (almost) 4 minutes per game on the kill, and played purely in a scoring role as opposed to Toews' mixed role...
and you're telling me Briere's one extra point should be enough to justify him getting the Smythe over Toews?
